Early morning coffee in hand, enjoying a bit of peace and quiet whilst sorting out the team sheet ready for tomorrow morning’s game for our Blisworth U10 boys! ⚽💚💛

Even when I’m not working, there’s always something to be getting on with! 🤣

Now time to switch from football coach mode to fireplace mode! 🔥

A full day of home surveys ahead of us today, and they’re still coming in thick and fast! 👌🏽

With the colder weather creeping in, everyone seems to be thinking about getting their fireplaces and woodburners sorted ready for winter.

🎄 And dare I say it…… CHRISTMAS! 🎅🏼

There really aren’t too many installation dates left between now and Christmas, so if you’re thinking about having a new stove or fireplace installed, don’t leave it until the last minute!

🔥 FROM A BLANK WALL TO A BEAUTIFUL NEW FIREPLACE! 🔥😍

A fresh start to the day up at Church Stowe this morning, with some lovely views across the Northamptonshire countryside. Not a bad place to spend the working day! 👌🏽☀️

Now this one was a little different, as we were starting with absolutely nothing! No chimney, no fireplace, just a blank wall and a vision of what the customer wanted.

First job was working out exactly where all the roof timbers were in this relatively new extension. We also had a rather awkward little box gutter to contend with! 🤦🏼‍♂️

After a bit of careful planning and measuring, we found the perfect route for the flue system without interfering with the roof timbers or impeding the gutter.

With the flue system installed and securely fixed, it was time to start creating the fireplace itself! 🔨

✅ Metal stud framework constructed to form the false chimney breast

✅ Fire-rated boards installed

✅ Corner beads and scrim tape applied, all ready for the plasterer

✅ Beautiful Dijon Egyptian limestone slabbed hearth installed, with its lovely warm, natural colouring

✅ Reclaimed brick slips fitted inside the chamber, adding a lovely rustic touch

🔥 And finally, the all-important stove!

A Henley Hazelwood Landscape 5kW woodburner, with its lovely wide viewing glass, sitting perfectly within the new chamber.

I absolutely love the combination of the warm Dijon limestone, reclaimed brickwork and the sleek black stove. 😍👌🏽

From a completely blank wall to a stunning new focal point for the room!

Obviously, there’s still some plastering and decorating to be done, but you can already see how fantastic this is going to look once finished.

And that’s the beauty of what we do. You don’t need an existing chimney or fireplace to enjoy a real woodburning stove! With the right planning, materials and flue system, we can create something like this from scratch.

🔥🔥 IT’S BEEN A CHESNEYS KIND OF DAY! 👌🏽🔥

First up, on a VERY wet morning, we headed over to Ashton 🌧️

The existing old and inefficient Portway Arundel was removed, which had been connected into the existing clay flue system.

We gave the chimney a thorough power sweep to get it as clean as possible before installing:

🔥 9 metres of new 316 grade flue liner
🔥 New adaptors & associated components
🔥 Core drilled through the rear wall
🔥 80mm direct air feed
🔥 And finally… a beautiful Chesneys Salisbury 5 👌🏽

Job number one complete and looking absolutely spot on! 😍

Then it was onto the afternoon job to finish off a project you may remember…

And what’s better than ONE Chesneys? 🤔

TWO MATCHING CHESNEYS! 🔥🔥

This is the property where we recently created the two matching reclaimed brick fireplaces. We’d been patiently waiting for the all-important stoves to arrive, and today was finally the day!

Two stunning Chesneys Beaumont 8’s installed into the matching fireplaces.

And can I just say… WOW! 🤩

The fireplaces looked great before, but now the stoves are in, they’ve completely finished them off. The brickwork, stone hearths, oak beams and those Beaumonts all work together beautifully. 👌🏽🔥

A very satisfying day and three Chesneys stoves installed in one day!

Not bad for a wet Wednesday! 🤣🌧️🔥

🔥 WHAT A DIFFERENCE! 🔥

Today’s transformation over in Walgrave… and I think the before and after pictures speak for themselves! 😍

Out came the old timber surround, dated back panel and hearth, before we opened everything up and created a much larger chamber.

We then installed:

🔥 Hunter Aspect 4 Compact woodburning stove
🖤 Kadapha black limestone hearth
🧱 Vintage architectural brick chamber
🏠 316 grade flue liner and components

The combination of the black limestone, reclaimed-style brickwork and clean lines of the Hunter stove has completely changed the look of this room. 👌🏽

From a fairly dated fireplace to a proper focal point that looks like it was always meant to be there.

Massive difference to the room… and most importantly, one the customer absolutely adores! ❤️🔥

Another home ready for those colder evenings ahead.

5:50am…… ☕️

The start of my hour of peace before the day ahead.

Coffee made, breakfast in front of me, and absolutely no noise apart from the faint hum of the M1 in the distance.

No phones ringing.
No emails.
No questions.
No tools.
No “Liam, can you just……” 🤣

Just an hour to sit, eat, drink my coffee and enjoy the peace before the madness of the day begins.

Sometimes these quiet early mornings are the best part of the day.

Silence really is golden 👌🏽☕️

Give it an hour though… and normal service will resume 🤣🔥

🔥 THE CROSS TREE, BYFIELD — ONE DOWN, ONE TO GO! 🔥

We were over at The Cross Tree pub in Byfield today, which has recently undergone an impressive six-figure makeover… and the finishing touches were a couple of new woodburners. 👌🏽🔥

First up was the restaurant end.

Out came the old fire basket and we installed:

🔥 New 316 grade flue liner
🔥 All associated components
🔥 Fire FX Eton 5kW woodburner from Stovax

And I think you’ll agree, it looks absolutely spot on in that original brick fireplace! 😍🔥

The plan was to get two matching stoves installed today… but as is often the case with old buildings, it had other ideas! 🤦🏼‍♂️

When we got up to the second chimney, alarm bells started ringing straight away. The mortar to the tall stack has seriously deteriorated and there was a huge amount of movement in the chimney stack. Enough that I certainly wasn’t prepared to start trying to get a liner down it.

Sometimes knowing when NOT to carry on is just as important as knowing how to do the job.

The refurbishment contractor was contacted straight away to arrange scaffolding as a matter of urgency. The stack will now need to be taken down and rebuilt, and we cordoned the area off as best we could until the scaffolding can be erected.

Once everything has been made safe and rebuilt, we’ll be heading back to install the matching Fire FX Eton in the bar area. 🔥🍺

A slight delay, but safety comes first every single time.

One stove roaring away, one chimney getting the attention it desperately needs… and we’ll be back to finish the job once it’s safe to do so. 👍🏽
