It’s with incredibly mixed feelings that I’m writing this, but the Crypt will be closing down by the end of November.
I’ve always loved creating things and interior design, and during lockdown I was furloughed with two small children. In an attempt to not go completely mad, I learned to design fabric with the help of YouTube, and a good friend via Zoom, and Afterlife Crypt was born. I’m grateful to have met many amazing weirdos, had the flexibility to be there when my children were younger and needed me around, had great fun creating things, and I feel so privileged knowing my designs are in thousands of homes and businesses all over the world.
But whilst I love creating things, I do not love running a small business and it is getting harder and harder. Brexit, tariffs and legislation have taken the joy out of it, social media is a full time job in itself, people who would love to support small businesses are struggling too and there have been some months I couldn’t afford to pay myself, let alone develop new ideas.
I took a job hoping it would relieve the pressure, and I could continue with the Crypt part time but I have just taken on too much. I’m trying to burn the candle at both ends work wise as well as being there for my family and suddenly months have passed, treats I had planned seem more like chores to get out of the way and I am constantly afraid of letting someone down. And this is no way to live.
I still plan to go to the events I had booked, I’ll pop the details in a separate post. If you’ve been eyeing something up for ages, drop me a message and I’ll see what I can fit in during November. There will be a limit on this though so be quick!
All this to say, thank you, you’ve been amazing, I hope I’ll still be around at events as a customer. And I hate long goodbyes but I’m about to subject you all to one as I wind down over the next few weeks!
Keep it creepy,
Trish x
