Everything I cram into my hobby bag ✨

• cosy colouring book (I like to rip the pages out 🤭)
• promarkers (these are 16 years old and still going strong!)
• a simple notebook for business journaling and getting ideas and thoughts down on paper
• studio pouch with all my journaling supplies in (watercolour palette, glue, scissors, fountain pens)
• ring bound sketchbook with individual watercolour paper (for taking out pages, and helping get off sketchbook fear of perfectionism!)
• Himi gouache palette + brushes
• acrylic markers
• more paintbrushes
• pens, pencils and fine liners

They dow forget.

Popped back up to the chit chat group to say hello, and join them for a catch up.

Last week I ran a workshop on behalf of the project, and I promised them I’d pop back up to see them.

This generation don’t forget, and equally rely on face to face or hand written notes for communication. So notes in hand, I passed over some information of interest for them and sat talking about how their week had been.

The world has shifted entirely for the elder generation and whilst a digital first approach works for so many (and makes things more cost effective to run), it leaves a good many people out of the know or unable to access such vital community projects.

Already set up community meets are vital spaces for connection, and being able to add a sprinkle of creativity should add to their experience not take away.

A big thank you to the guys from the Yam from Here project and .cic for making these workshops a wonderful addition 🤗

For now, I’m back in my studio working on turning the individual pieces into a united piece of artwork.

Spake propa ☎️

My grandad would always joke “you need elocution lessons” when he core hear what people had said.

I would answer the phone with the clearest voice, and over pronounce that “I was Hannah with a H”.

Language and dialect is a funny old thing, because it can mean a great deal to people. Their sense of community, a belonging, a loved one’s words they may no longer hear.

Whilst I always aim to speak as clearly as possible, there is no denying that hearing the Black Country dialect feels like home.

I’m looking forward to combining a shared interest of the local area, a sprinkle of creativity and a cup of Tay with the locals in a few weeks at the community group ☕️
