The Borage Honey is ready 🩵💜

Look at the difference between the honey on the left and the honey on the right!
The left one is summer runny honey from local flowers and trees like Lime etc.
The right one is from fields of Borage. Some hives were moved a few miles down the road to benefit from the Borage crop. It is a lighter colour and a milder honey taste. It is absolutely delicious!

Stocked on the Honesty Box now!

What do you do with it?
We put it in curries, cups of tea, on porridge and we even put it in our gelato 🍦

Do you know the difference between a Bumble bee and a Honey bee?

🐝The Bumble bee (pictured left) is a lot larger and rounder with bigger blocks of colour.
They live in small, wild colonies ranging from 50 to a few hundred bees. Their colonies are annual; all workers and males die at the end of summer, while only the newly mated queen hibernates through the winter.

🍯The Honey Bee (pictured right) is a lot slimmer. They live in massive, highly structured colonies of 20,000 to 50,000+ bees. The colony is perennial and survives for years, with the queen living up to three or four years.

Did you know that you can receive bees in the post? Even full hives!! It's a delicate process and they are well prepared for the journey by the sender and looked after well by the royal mail during transit. It causes quite the interest by the post office workers 🤣
Thank you Black Mountain Honey for offering this service. We have used it a couple of times when in need. Sometimes queen bees die or go missing for whatever reason and it's vital that they are given a new queen as without one the hive can't survive 🐝
