Finally a moment to reflect on my trip to New York. A little much-needed food for the soul…
It was so good to step away from the everyday, meeting with like minded creative people and seeing beautiful things, the simple pleasures…..
A huge part of the trip was finally seeing Nomads’ Garden for the very first time at COVER Connect New York.
I designed her in collaboration with Turquoise Mountain Trust, inspired by the wonderful story of the Silk Road, the movement of colour, ideas, yarn, craftsmanship and culture across countries and generations, she was then brought to life by the incredibly talented female weavers of Afghanistan.
To finally stand in front of her, run my hands over her and see all those tiny details I had drawn translated into wool and silk was rather special, she did not disappoint! đź’šđź’™
It is always enriching to reconnect with the wonderful rug community, catching up with old friends and making new ones. Catching up with Michael parete, immersing myself amongst the treasures at Nazmiyal Antique Rugs, a wonderfully inspiring visit to Kips Bay Decorator Show House, and a little trip to the fabulous Faena Hotel with friend and showroom partner Ali Couture Knots Handknotted Rugs
Always good to return home feeling creatively recharged, just reminds me how important it is to occasionally step outside our own little worlds and simply go and look at beautiful things, meet interesting people and allow ourselves to be inspired.
New York, ❤️
And Nomads’ Garden… it was wonderful to finally meet you!
