I’ve loved Abigail Ahern’s work for years, but visiting her showroom completely confirmed it in real life — everything I’d admired in photos felt even more powerful in person. It genuinely shifted how I think about interiors.

The dark ceilings, walls and floors were unexpectedly warm, layered and cinematic. Instead of feeling heavy, they made every texture, artwork, light and accessory sing.

Why are we so afraid of colour, depth and mood in our homes?

Her “more is more” philosophy — rich textures, statement lighting, oversized botanicals and moody, inky palettes gave me such confidence to trust my own instincts and be braver with my colour palette at home.

Chasing wires.....

We always knew the house needed a full rewire — the electrics a shambles. I loved the process of seeing the home we’d lived in for five years being stripped back to its bare bones.

It added a huge amount of work, but lucky for me, I got the chance to redecorate the house.

We approached this project with the mindset that we might live here forever — future-proofing it as best we could.

Thrilled to share@smouk_interiors is opening a beautiful new shop in the heart of Frome, and I’ll be stocking Annie Sloan’s there.

Alongside the paint, our creative interiors studio will be offering interior consultations, styling and workshops.

The shop is going to be a beautiful meeting point where North Africa meets the South West. Sarah’s stylish space will be your go-to for authentic handwoven Moroccan rugs, bespoke textiles and unique artisan homewares.

Opening in time for the dependent on Sunday and can’t wait to welcome you through the doors x

With the strip-out complete, the structure is really started to reveal itself.

I loved seeing the bones of a build exposed; it’s the point where vision and structure meet, and the space truly starts to come alive.

The Strip-Out.

The kids loved coming to site to see the progress, curiously fascinated by how a build evolves from the inside out.

We striped everything back to a blank canvas, ready for the next stage.
