YOUR SUCCULENTS AREN’T DYING… THEY’RE JUST HAVING A HEATWAVE MELTDOWN 🌵☀️

A lot of people assume succulents love endless blazing sun because they’re “desert plants”… but when we get these random UK heatwaves, even succulents can start throwing a tiny tantrum.

Here’s what to watch for:
• Leaves looking wrinkled or deflated = thirsty
• Pale, bleached patches = sun scorch
• Mushy leaves in hot weather = often TOO much water, not too little
• Lower leaves drying up = sometimes completely normal survival mode

When it’s really hot, many succulents stop actively growing to protect themselves. So drowning them with love and a watering can isn’t the answer.
A few simple heatwave tips:
🌵 Water deeply early morning or evening
🌵 Don’t mist them, they’re not at a spa retreat in Ibiza
🌵 Terracotta pots dry out much faster than plastic
🌵 Newly imported or softer varieties may need afternoon shade
🌵 Black pots in full sun basically become air fryers

The irony is that most succulents die from kindness, not neglect.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is step away slowly… and stop fussing over them every 12 minutes. 😅

Echeveria Ebony is one of those succulents that makes plant people go a bit feral in the best possible way. It’s dramatic, architectural and slightly intimidating… like the succulent equivalent of someone who wears head-to-toe black linen and owns very expensive scissors 😂
