Another outside job completed when the weather was lovely. WB Sandolin Mahogany again. Great stuff and these soffits, fascia boards, windows and doors looked great after 2 coats. Customer was really pleased and satisfied with the outcome. Always great to see and hear after completely a job

So now that I've got a few jobs done and got the business name thought out, I would like to share how that name came to me and the story behind it.

As many know or might not know that I come from a very large family. My gran had 15 children and countless grandchildren and great grandchildren. I am one of the older grandkids and we called her Granny Bridie but as the younger generation came through they decided to simplify her name too Granny B or Queen B. Sadly before covid she passed away after living a fantastic life and loved by so many.

So I wanted to have my gran as part of the company name and our family associate bees in her memory, so it feels fitting to use.

When I first worked offshore I came across Chris Colyer and he was giving his life changing story to the workforce on the platform I was working on. I really felt his story hit me for some reason and I went and spoke to him about things and got some great information and advice from him. What he said to me has always stuck with me and when he told me "whatever you do in life, make sure you inspire people" I've always kept what he said to me as something which I knew would eventually use later in life.

So I put these 2 stories together and the business name came to me and felt right.

About 2 week later I was at my cousin boys birthday party and one of her friends walked by with this t-shirt on and if that wasn't a sign, what else could there be?

So just to clear that up, I haven't seen or ever heard this before so I haven't used their name because I liked it. My business name has story behind it and is Bee Inspired Decorating

Another great few days to get outside work done.

Soffits, fascia boards and windows.

All surface got and good scrape, sand, damp clean over and 2 coats of water based Sandolin Mahogany satin finish

First time using water based woodstsinband I was a little optimistic but turnnout really well

A cracking few days to get an outside done. Downpipes, window sills, lower walls, railing and gates.

Gave the down pipes a scrape and sand then a coat of grey undercoat and finished with oil base Johnstone dark brown gloss (chocolate something). Window sills on the extention got a scrap right back to original surface, 2 solid coats of shallac zinner as it's a glazed surface which shouldn't really be painted. This will give it a solid base to put paint on top of.

All windowsill and lower walls got coated with Sandtex Bitter Chocolate smooth masonary paint. The railing and gates needed some attention so had to use a flapping disc and angle grinder to get into the really bad rust and then a good scrap and sand. Once prepped 2 coats of smooth hammerite to give it a solid coat and protection as this garden is exposed to the elements

Freshly plastered bedroom

This room had artex on the ceilings and walls and was freshly plastered. So firstly I had to apply a mist coat to seal in the fresh plaster.

Customer was just wanting the ceiling and walls all coat in the same colour, which was choosen from a Farrel and Ball shade card but matched in Johnstone vinyl sheen, to keep the cost down. It's slightly different coating the ceilings and walls together with the same colour as it's a step away from the norm (white ceilings) but it still turned out quite well. 2 coats of emulsion and the woodwork got 2 coats of water based satinwood (can remember the brand) and window got a coat of yatch varnish supplied by customer. It just needed freshened up.

This room turned out really well and I was surprised with the outcome as I wasn't too sure about coating the ceiling and walls together with the same colour. It was similar to a caramel latte colour. Customer was teally please with the outcone and was a great job to get done

Another hallway and porch area

Customer asked me about why the previous paint was chipping off so easily, so once I got to work I soon realised that the previous person had used contract matt as a mist coat, which leaves a chalky surface and then coated the wall with black soft sheen or vinyl silk, which is just sitting on a dusty surface and has no adhesion. Gave everything a good sand and coated the ceiling and walls with zinsers b-i-n aqua primer to seal the surface before applying any emulsion.

Ceiling got 2 coats of super latex Brilliant White emulsion and walls were coated with Dulux soft sheen Sage. Woodwork was finished with Johnstone water based satinwood.

I only managed to get before pic but waiting for customer to send me after pics. Once I receive them I'll uodate this post

Customer was really please with the outcome and the sage colour looks fantastic and very calming affect. It was that good looking that I am going to be painting my own hallway with this colour

This was my friends chalet that was needing freshened up, so wasn't a lot of work needing done other that giving it 2 solid coats of Dulux white uni-primer.

Looks fantastic and super super and clean. I gave all the wood effects a wash down as its a formica finish

This was a Dining/Living room and kitchen. I advised customer that the wallpaper was freshly dine and wouldn't need replacing and they were happy to keep it as it was.

High ceiling and was coated using super latex Brilliant White. The walls were coated from the Dulux shade cards choosen by the customer. It's a light grey but doesn't show to well in the photos. So double coated the walls and the wood work felt really dry so gave it 2 coats or polyurethane varnish and looks fantastic

Another really happy customer and great job to get done.

Hallway was coated with 2 coats of Caramel Latte and bedroom got a mist coat and then 2 coats of Egyptian cotton and feature wall was Indigo Shade

All woodwork got 2 coats of water based white satin woodwood and was really great to work with

Great job to be working on and customer was really please with the outcome

Hi everyone and thanks for following my page.

I've decided to set up my own wee painting and decorating business, as I feel it time to become my own boss and work for myself.

I'm just trying to get into the swing of the social media aspect of things, so remembering to do the before and after shots hasn't gone to plan to greatly, so more practice is needed there, bare with me.

I will post the jobs I've been working on and give a brief description.

I've also got my business cards being developed, so I should have them very soon.
