A little end of August update while I eat something. 🤍

I genuinely don’t know how we’re already on the last day of August because this month has been absolutely mental.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who’s stuck with me through it all. To my regulars, thank you for your patience, your orders, your messages, and for supporting me as a person, not just a small business.

I’ve lost a few of you along the way, which I completely understand. But to the girls who’ve stayed, checked in on me, and continued to support It’s a Topper through one of the hardest months we’ve had, I’ll never be able to thank you enough.

Once I’m back from France, I’ll be opening my diary up more. Having a little more space means I can start taking on more orders, especially from bakers looking for a full-time supplier, and I’m so excited for this next chapter.

Home life is still a little chaotic. We’re about to switch Alex onto a new insulin, which means we’re pretty much back to square one while we learn everything all over again. The sleepless nights haven’t disappeared, but we’re getting used to this new normal and taking it one day at a time.

Thank you for giving me the grace to be both a mum and a business owner. It means more than you’ll ever know.

Here’s to September. 🇫🇷✨🤍

We’ve been keeping a little secret… 🤍

January 2027, we will welcome the fourth team member of It’s A Topper! 🥹

Baby Freeland will be the final piece of our little family. 👶🏼🤍

If you’ve been wondering why I’ve been banging on about using the order form lately… well, now you know! 😂

I’ve been dealing with morning sickness, growing a whole human AND somehow still managing to complete all your orders, while also navigating life with our extra-special Alexander. It’s been a lot behind the scenes!

Alexander absolutely cannot wait to become a big brother, Craig cannot wait for another baby, and I’m just incredibly grateful that everyone is happy, healthy and doing well. We really are so blessed. 🤍

I know some of you will be wondering what this means for It’s A Topper and whether I’ll be taking time off.

My current plan is to take January–March off and I’ll be looking at finding someone to help keep things ticking over while I’m enjoying those newborn days. 🍼

BUT… please keep in mind this business started as my little maternity-leave hobby. 😂

I’ve already done the sleepless nights, baby chaos and running a business once… so don’t expect me to be sat at home twiddling my thumbs for three months! 👀😂

There will definitely be more plans to come, but for now, we just wanted to share our very special secret with you all.

Our little family is growing, and we couldn’t be happier. 🤍

I’m coming back next week! ❤️

But this time, I’m coming back on a VERY reduced schedule and taking things slowly.

Normally I can turn over anywhere from 50–80+ orders, but for now I’ll only be taking on 20 orders.

I also will NOT be working weekends.

After our holiday, from 21st September–5th October, I’ll reassess things and, if Alex is still managing well with his insulin, blood sugars, food and injections, I’ll look at increasing the amount of work I can take on.

Watching his blood sugar, keeping on top of what he eats and managing his injections really is a full-time job in itself. I’m doing my absolute best to balance being his mum, looking after him properly and still running the business I’ve worked so hard to build. ❤️

I want to make it really clear that I have absolutely no intention of quitting or giving up my business. I’ve worked far too damn hard for it! 😂

But I also know I need to come back slowly and carefully. I don’t want to burn myself out, take on too much and end up having to cancel orders.

In almost two years — which is only 3 days away! 🥹 — I have NEVER cancelled an order. I’ve definitely said yes to far too many last-minute orders in the past 😂 The only time I’ve ever had to let people down was when Alex was in hospital, and I absolutely do not want to put myself or my customers in that position again.

So we’re going to do this slowly, sensibly and in a way that is manageable for us. ❤️

I’m currently working through all of the orders that were pre-booked months in advance, and these will always come first. My diary is currently booked right through until February next year!

Any additional orders added week-to-week will be subject to availability. Once those 20 spaces are gone, they’re gone.

Thank you, as always, for being so incredibly understanding while I figure out this new normal. It means more than you know. ❤️

I’m still here. I’m still making your toppers. I’m just doing it a little slower and a lot more carefully. 🥰

Here’s to getting back to it! 🎂✨

A little update from me ❤️

Going forward, I need to make sure my orders work for both my family and my business.

I’ve decided that until my little boy is fitted with his insulin pump, I won’t be taking on any next-day orders.

I know I haven’t accepted any new orders this week, but I also haven’t cancelled any of the orders that were already booked in. Even with only six toppers to make, it’s been a real balancing act. Between several overnight hypos leaving us with very little sleep, and then trying to manage food, insulin injections, and more hypos throughout the day, it’s been incredibly challenging.

As for orders over the next few weeks, could I please ask everyone to keep on top of their diaries and get your topper orders over to me by the start of the week—Monday or Tuesday if possible. Even better, if you already know what you need, sending me your month’s diary at the beginning of the month would be a huge help.

At the moment, I’m working whenever I can—during spare moments, early mornings and late nights—so my usual 9–6 working day isn’t really a thing just now. Planning ahead will help me make sure I can fit everyone in while still being there for Alex.

I hope you all understand. Thank you for your patience, kindness and support over the last week. Every message, every bit of understanding, and every little act of kindness has meant more to us than you’ll ever know. I’m doing my best to find a routine that allows me to continue doing what I love while making sure my little boy gets everything he needs.

Thank you for sticking with me while we adjust to this new chapter. ❤️

AWARENESS! and FAMILY UPDATE!
A small explanation to why I’ve had to cancel all orders for the moment.

Our beautiful little boy, who is only 2 years old, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

We had absolutely no family history, no reason to think this would ever happen to us. It has been the biggest shock of our lives, and we’re still trying to process what our new normal looks like.

If there’s one thing I want to do already, it’s raise awareness. Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition. It is not caused by eating too much sugar, poor diet, or anything we did as parents. It can happen to anyone, at any age, and sometimes the signs are easy to miss.

Please remember the 4 Ts:
💙 Toilet – needing the toilet more than usual or heavy nappies.
💙 Thirsty – constantly asking for drinks and never seeming satisfied.
💙 Tired – unusually sleepy, lacking energy, or not themselves.
💙 Thinner – unexpected weight loss.

If your child is showing these signs, trust your instincts and ask for a blood glucose test. It takes minutes and could save their life.

We have a long journey ahead of us, with finger pricks, insulin injections, sleepless nights, carb counting, and learning a whole new way of life. But our little boy is already showing us just how brave he is.

Be kind. Hug your loved ones a little tighter. Life can change in an instant.

And if sharing our story helps just one family recognise the signs sooner, then it’s worth it. 💙

🌴 Holiday Notice 🌴

Just a little heads up so everyone has plenty of notice!

I will be taking some time off from Monday 14th September 2026 until Monday 5th October 2026.

I'll be back to admin only from Tuesday 6th October 2026, with production resuming shortly after.

During this time I'll be attending two weddings (both taking up a few days) before heading abroad on holiday, so unfortunately I won't be able to squeeze in any last-minute orders this time.

On my last holiday I was asked around 20 times if I could "just do one quick topper" 🙈, so I wanted to give everyone lots of notice this time!

📅 Please check your diaries now. If you already have cakes booked during this period, please submit your order forms as soon as possible. I'll make those toppers alongside your July and August orders so you're all sorted well in advance.

As always, thank you so much for your understanding and for helping me plan ahead. Givi

Hey everyone 💕

Firstly, I just want to say a massive thank you for all of your continued support. When I started this little business, I never imagined I'd be able to go fully self-employed in under two years. Every order, recommendation and share has helped me get here, and I'll always be grateful.

I wanted to explain why I ask everyone to use my order form.

When I first started, I supplied around 4–5 bakers. Today, I work with 24 amazing bakers, alongside supplying stock to Cakes by Rebecca. My workload has grown massively, which is incredible, but it also means I need a system that keeps everything organised.

The order form isn't there to make things difficult or stop us chatting. It's simply to stop me scrolling through conversations trying to find order details or, even worse, missing an order that's been sent between messages.

Please place every order through the form.

A couple of things that really help me:

✨ Please enter the date you need the topper by, not your collection date. Once your form is submitted, I'll schedule it in my diary.

✨ Please send orders as early as possible. Designing each topper can take 30–60 minutes, and making it takes a similar amount of time.

At the moment, I aim to make around 50 toppers a week, but recently I've been producing closer to 80, with around 60 of those coming in last minute. If several bakers all leave orders until the final day, it quickly becomes impossible to keep up while maintaining the quality I pride myself on.

I completely understand that last-minute orders are sometimes unavoidable, and I'll always do my best to help if I have the capacity. But I can't guarantee I can fit them in every time.

All I'm asking is that, whenever possible, you send your orders as soon as you know about them. Even a few extra days' notice makes a huge difference. It helps me plan my workload, get invoices out on time, avoid unnecessary stress, and still have some time with my family.

Thank you all so much for understanding and for continuing to support my little business. It honestly means the world to me. ❤️
