A visit to the boulangerie is a soothing daily ritual in France and it’s certainly helping me to feel better after the sadness of last week - little by little.

We are staying next door to the fabulous and as you can see my will power has deserted me! I’m sure I must be working it off on the slopes!

Amazing how good food has the power to comfort and heal. Anyone else agree ?

We had the saddest week as we said goodbye to our beautiful Pippin. She was with us through thick and thin - travelling all the way to Australia and back for our time in Sydney. But she was happiest in Hampshire walking along the river in Wi******er and hoarding shoes in her bed at home. She was a real family pet, looked after and loved by us all. On the downside - she had a habit of eating foul things and incensed us all by burying our shoes in the garden - sometimes not to be found for months! As well as a penchant for chasing pheasant in Hampshire and lizards in Australia and going AWOL on occasion. But these were small faults and she was the kind of dog you may only be lucky enough to have once in a life time.
To dog lovers out there - you will understand - she had character, presence and life feels diminished without her.

I hope she is in Devon (doggy Heaven) chasing that pheasant bounding through a field of hay - ears flying in the breeze. We love you and miss you Pippin 💕💕

A busy 4 days in Budapest - there’s a lot to see, do and eat!
1. Dobostorta and my favourite Eszterhazy Torta
2. Goulash soup at Central Hall market
3. Buying paprika - sweet not hot!
4. Walking tour with Gary booked through - St Stephen’s church
5. Shoes on the Danube memorial
6. Family history revisited
7. Chain bridge at night
8. Matthias church classical concert - beautiful
9. Bike ride along the Buda side - great until I took a tumble!
10. Gul Baba tomb the most northerly Muslim pilgrimage site
11. Array of pickles at the market
12. Langos - a kind of plate sized doughnut with meat sauce - one between two should be enough!
13. Chimney cakes - a recent Hungarian thing?

Also not photographed - the wonderful . And the opposite end of the enjoyment spectrum the which literally is a house of terror - I couldn’t get out of there fast enough!

Cooking and food are a big part of my life but my work takes me in a slightly different direction!

If you are interested in property either professionally or as a homeowner then I’d love you to check out my content .homestyling. Or DM me to chat.

Looking for a light and healthy summer supper? Make a Poke bowl!

I especially enjoyed this one as it was made for me by with delicious salmon sashimi from .

You can mix up the components but start with a base of rice. Add raw fish, avocado slices, edamame, cucumber, radish, grated carrot or cabbage. Finish with sesame dressing, salmon roe and a sprinkling of furikake.
