🤎 A LITTLE BUSINESS UPDATE… PRICE INCREASE 🤎
I honestly cannot believe that The Velvet Whisk has been going for over 12 months already! Where has that time gone? 🥹
What an incredible first year it's been. When I started this little business, I never imagined it would grow into what it has today, and I am so grateful to every single person who has supported me, placed an order, recommended me or trusted me with a cake for one of their special occasions. ❤️
Over the past 12 months, I've learnt SO much. My skills have developed, my techniques have improved, I've gained confidence and I genuinely feel that the standard of my cakes has come on leaps and bounds.
But one thing I've also learnt along the way is just how much goes into making a cake!
The cost of ingredients, butter, chocolate, fillings, decorations and packaging, to the hours spent baking, filling, decorating and perfecting every little detail. It all adds up, and cake making certainly isn't as cheap as people might think!🙈
I've always tried to keep my prices as reasonable and affordable as possible, sometimes probably a little too reasonable! 😂 There have been plenty of occasions where I've stood back and looked at a finished cake and thought, "I've definitely undercharged for that!"
And that's where I've realised that it's time to make a little change.
Going forward, I will be making a small increase to my cake prices.
This isn't a huge increase, but I feel it's a necessary one to reflect the time, effort, ingredients, creativity and skills that go into every cake I make.
I know that cakes are a luxury, and I completely understand that they can be a big expense for some people. I never take that lightly, and I will always do my best to offer beautiful, bespoke cakes at fair prices. But equally, as a small business, I need to make sure that I am making a profit and valuing the work that I put into every order.
Please don't worry if you've already booked a cake and received a quote, all existing bookings and agreed quotes will absolutely be honoured at the price originally given. 🤎
If you've ordered from me before and come back for another quote and notice a little difference in price, I hope this explains why.
