I'm at the beautifully restored boardroom in The Observer Building today for a Create East Sussex workshop. 💚

I met lots of other creative business owners from the local area. Hopefully there will be opportunities for us to collaborate and support each other in the future.

I now have a long list of things to do to help make my business better!

One of the advantages of living and working in a 'deprived' area is there are quite a lot of workshops and events for small businesses to meet, network and learn new things.

Fresh off the workbench (I'm really loving making jewellery again)! 💜

Stud earrings - some made with Swarovski crystals, some with semi-precious gemstones or other crystals and cabochons. So many sparkly and iridescent colours!

Match them with my new glass and mirror necklaces or wear them on their own.

They're around 1cm in diameter, silver plated mostly, with a few gold plated, and come with a gift pouch.

They'll be available at my upcoming Christmas events, or directly from my studio.

One of the most intriguing things about decorative windows is the way they can look completely different depending on the time of day, the season and the weather. ☀️

So on a dull wet day like today, for example, the colours may look more muted when viewing the glass from the inside. But looking through a decorative window from outside, especially as the evening draws in and the lights are turned on, brings out the jewel colours, creating a warm, homely feel.🌨

Whereas on a bright sunny day, sunshine makes the colours stream through, filling the room with joyful hues, like this window in the chapel at Crowhurst Healing Centre.

A small selection of my new glass and mirror necklace collection! 💚

Each one is unique, and they are available in lots of colours and sizes, gold and silver plated, and some are embellished with crystals. I'm working on some matching stud earrings too.

They will be available at all the events I'm doing over the next few months, I'll post them here too, and eventually I'll figure out a way of getting them available online! ❤️

Despite living in Hastings for nearly half a century, I've only been to the Town Hall once before, when I won second prize in a children's poetry competition back in the 1980s! 😂

Today I visited the Hastings Embroidery which is currently on display there. If you haven't heard of this, it's a kind of 'follow on' from the Bayeux Tapestry, depicting aspects of history from 1066 until 1966 when it was made.

It's far more colourful and vibrant than the Bayeux (and significantly easier to get tickets!!😂)

Of course I was also very interested in the beautiful stained glass windows throughout the building. I hadn't realised they were there!

The large stairway window is curious - the top section has the town's insignia, but the lower part is a whole mixture of different designs, as if it's been remade from several other windows.

Does anyone know more about its history?

Lastly, I was surprised to find a photograph of the chap who built my house (or more accurately, had it built - a weasel cloak is not the most practical attire for construction work!!!)

The Hastings Embroidery is on display until the end of October - do go along and see it!

You might spot this door as you drive into Rye! 💙

A front door in a traditional four panel layout, the upper two panels featuring a coastal scene looking out to sea with an iridescent sun. In the foreground, an Oystercatcher stands among grasses and pebbles.

The toplight is arched and displays the name of the property, and in the centre is the Rye skyline including the famous church.

Most commercially available glass for this type of door will be either two identical panels, or a handed pair (a mirror image of each other). The beauty of getting a craftsperson to create the glass is you can have a design that flows across both panels, without them being the same!

When I first started making decorative windows, around the Millenium, roses were incredibly popular. 🌹

All sorts of styles were requested, from very realistic blooms to simpler Rennie Mackintosh stylised flowers, and deep claret reds to subtle gold and white. Rose bushes, climbing roses, a single rose in a vase.

I can't remember the last time I was asked for a rose, I guess tastes change over time, but here's a large rose window I made a few years ago.

It was an internal partition window between two rooms, so we had to consider the dècor of both spaces and use colours that toned with both.

End of Season bargains! 🧡

Now the summer weather seems to be well and truly over, it seems a perfect time to offer some really good discounts on a few of the mirrors that haven't yet found their person.

Last time I posted something for sale on here, I quickly received several comments and messages from AI bots who, though convincing at first, started using phrases like 'yes ma'am' and 'I'm out of town, can my son collect this', and it all got rather strange, so it'll be interesting to see how this post goes - maybe I should have some sort of codeword that only real people understand!!! 😂
