๐ŸŽ‰WELLโ€ฆ THIS HAPPENED LAST NIGHT! ๐ŸŽ‰
I am still pinching myself!
After many, many, MANY attempts at becoming part of the Small Business Sunday community, I honestly never expected to receive this message in my inbox last nightโ€ฆ
Loo of The Year Awards Ltd has been selected for ! ๐ŸŽ‰
To say I was shocked, excited and absolutely delighted would be an understatement!
I am incredibly honoured to now be part of the Small Business Sunday community and to have the opportunity to share our rather unusual business with such an amazing network of small businesses.
For those who do not know us, Charles and I run the Loo of the Year Awards, recognising and celebrating outstanding away-from-home washrooms across the UK and Ireland. But what we do is about so much more than toilets. It is about education, awareness, accessibility, inclusion, dignity and recognising those who are making a difference.
A huge thank you to Theo Paphitis and the fantastic Small Business Sunday team for this opportunity and for championing small businesses like ours. It really does mean a lot.
And congratulations to all the other businesses selected alongside us this Sunday, what a fantastic group to be joining!

After all those attempts, I think it is safe to sayโ€ฆ
Never give up! Keep showing up, keep believing in what you do and sometimes, your inbox can bring a very nice surprise!

We may talk about toilets, but really, we are talking about people.

Looking for the sun in Penzance โ€“ our furthest inspection south?
The sunshine may have been hiding, but that certainly has not stopped our Loo of The Year Awards Ltd Inspection team!
From the very top of the UK to the very bottom and Ireland too, our inspectors travel the length and breadth of the country carrying out unannounced inspections to help raise standards in away-from-home washrooms.
Penzance might be one of our furthest inspections south however you never know where our team of inspectors may turn up next! ๐Ÿ‘€
Keep an eye out, as we could be visiting a washroom near you soon.

Becky is absolutely delighted and privileged to have been asked to speak at The Care Show Swindon on Saturday 10 October. ๐Ÿ’™
She is particularly excited about this opportunity because, for us, Loo of The Year Awards Ltd is about so much more than inspecting toilets, giving them a grade and handing out awards.
It is about people.
We all need to use a toilet. But for someone living with a disability, whether visible or hidden, or for someone caring for an older person or someone with additional needs, the availability of a clean, safe, accessible and suitable toilet can make the difference between being able to go out and enjoy life, or having to stay at home.
A toilet can determine whether someone feels confident going shopping, visiting an attraction, going on holiday, staying in a hotel, attending an event or simply enjoying a day out with family and friends.
And for carers, knowing that a suitable washroom will be available can be a huge part of planning a day and making sure the person they care for can experience some normality, independence and dignity.
That is why she feels so strongly about the work we do through Loo of the Year Awards. Our 101-point grading system is not just about whether a toilet looks nice. It considers cleanliness, safety, accessibility, facilities, lighting, design, ambience and so much more. Most importantly, it helps us raise awareness and encourage organisations to take their washrooms seriously.
Because a washroom should not be an afterthought. It is an essential part of caring for people.
She will be sharing this message, along with our experience from almost 40 years of Loo of the Year Awards, when I take to the keynote stage at The Care Show Swindon.
She is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to speak to people working across the care sector and hopefully help start conversations about something we all need, but which is still too often overlooked.
We all need the toilet. Let us make sure everyone can use one with dignity.

Congratulations to you all!!!

Congratulations to you all!!!

50 Years of Tyddyn Isaf! ๐Ÿ’š

In 1976, when we purchased Tyddyn Isaf, we were a family with the bare bones of a park, lots of ideas, and a lot of hope. Half a century later, we're still a family business, and the fields are full of your families and memories too!

We've watched children who once ran around here with buckets and fishing nets come back with children of their own. We've seen first holidays, silver weddings, reunions, and more rainy afternoons in the bar and coffee shop than we could ever count. We may look after Tyddyn, but you are the ones who fill it with life. โค๏ธ

So it felt only right that our Golden Anniversary celebration on Saturday wasn't about us at allโ€ฆ it was about giving something back. And what a day it was! ๐Ÿฅฐ

We had live music from Arwyn Hughes and The Cover Ups, Highland cows getting more cuddles than they knew what to do with, face painting, games, a spectacular three-tier celebration cake, our Golden Challenge winners announced, and a crowd of you who turned up in full force despite the weather (which, thankfully, came good in the end!). ๐Ÿฎ๐ŸŽถ

Because of you, our wonderful customers, we raised an incredible....

To the RNLI Moelfe Lifeboat volunteers, and the HM Coastguard team who gave up their Saturday to join us: thank you. You were the reason for the day, and you were the highlight of it.

A massive thank you to the local businesses who generously donated prizes and supported the event:
RNLI Moelfre Lifeboat
RNLI Moelfre Seawatch
Moelfre Coastguard
The Cover Ups
Robin Roberts
Nina's Cake Cabin
Butterfly's Floral Design
Two Bridges Wales
Tyddyn Mรดn

Arwyn Hughes

Also a huge thank you to our brilliant volunteers, and every single person who bought a raffle ticket, ordered food, made a donation, or simply came along to celebrate with us.

Fifty years, and none of it would have been possible without you. Here's to many more years to come! ๐Ÿฅ‚โœจ

๐ŸŒธ A lovely morning with Herefordshire Means Business for Women ๐ŸŒธ
What a fantastic morning at todayโ€™s Herefordshire Means Business Ltd for Women meeting!
We were treated to a really interesting and slightly different presentation from Michelle Ward of Indelible IP. Rather than focusing on trademarking and brand protection, Michelle shared her own journey, from studying Plant Sciences at university to becoming a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney and Brand Protection Specialist.
It was fascinating to hear how her career has taken a direction she probably never imagined when she first started her degree. And it was a great reminder that life does not always follow the path we think it will. Sometimes opportunities, experiences and choices take us somewhere completely unexpected and that is OK. Ultimately, what matters is finding something you enjoy, that makes you happy and that you are passionate about.
There was also plenty of time for catching up, meeting some lovely new ladies and reconnecting with many of the longstanding members.
And, of course, we could not let Colita Daintonโ€™s birthday pass without a little early celebration! We enjoyed some VERY chocolatey cake, ready for the big day next week and I can confirm it tasted every bit as good as it looked!
A huge thank you to Colita and Kim for organising another morning that was informative, inspiring and great fun.
It is always lovely to spend time with such a supportive group of women from across Herefordshire.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ THE BOG CAST โ€“ NEW EPISODE NOW LIVE!
What does the future of the washroom industry look like? And why is collaboration so important if we want to raise standards?
In this episode, Becky is joined by Paul Thrupp CMgr MCMI, FBICSc of the Independent Washroom Services Association (IWSA), to talk about the people, businesses and organisations working behind the scenes to make washrooms better for everyone.
They discuss:
๐Ÿšฝ The importance of independent washroom service companies
๐Ÿค Why sharing knowledge and working together matters
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ’ผ Attracting the next generation into the industry
๐Ÿค– AI, cobotics and the future of washroom services
โ™ฟ Safety, dignity and full inclusion
๐Ÿ† The new partnership between IWSA and Loo of The Year Awards Ltd
๐ŸŽค Whatโ€™s coming at the Cleaning Show in 2027
Paul also shares why โ€œthe more we all work together, the greater the impact will be.โ€
It is a fascinating conversation about an industry that most people rarely think about; but which affects every one of us.
๐ŸŽง Listen to the latest episode of The Bog Cast now!๐ŸŽ™๏ธhttps://www.buzzsprout.com/2591293/episodes/19738348
And if you work in washroom services, facilities management or simply want to understand more about what happens behind the scenesโ€ฆ this one is definitely worth a listen!
