Big News -Hooked Afloat is changing base !! This week we start a new chapter in our lives and move to a cottage in the historic ,friendly community of Overwater ,Nenthead, Cumbria .
I will be moving my hooks and yarn to the inspirational scenery and wildlife of Alston Moor where I will continue to make cabin lace ,porthole laces, blankets, hats, cowls etc . Keep an eye out for posts as I aim introduce new designs and work in natural fibres in the future .
We will not be making our bespoke sprung stainless steel port hole hangers ourselves ,instead we have passed that over to a friend , Dean Allen , who will continue to make them & hopes to extend the range to include , solid and half moon rings along with circular ones that can be unscrewed to thread the lace thereby increasing options available. Ps This means our beautiful loved 58.5 foot narrowboat Chalico is about to go up for sale with Norbury Wharf Ltd . She is a high spec boat in immaculate condition and has had many new features added over the last few years including a total repaint in 2021 , a roof repaint , new steel and oak lined stable doors fitted blackening and 12 new Anodes in November 2025 .
