✨ From a Sneak Peek to the Finished Piece!

A couple of weeks ago, I shared a little sneak peek of a new stained-glass project I was working on…

Introducing “Reflections of Arran” 🌊🏔️

Inspired by the beautiful Isle of Arran and its Sleeping Warrior, this piece is particularly special to me. Arran is somewhere I go to find peace, clear my head and take time to reflect.
One of the things I love most about stained glass is how it changes with the light, and this piece really shows that.
In bright daylight, the turquoise waters come alive, with iridescent glass shimmering through the waves.
As the light softens, those vibrant colours transform into the deeper, steel-blue tones of Scottish waters.
The mirrored sky adds another dimension, reflecting its surroundings and even the person standing in front of it. The artwork is constantly changing, just like the sea itself.

And there's a little extra story behind this exhibition…
A few years ago, I painted Arran, capturing the same landscape in a completely different medium. That painting will also be exhibited alongside my new stained-glass piece!
I'm really looking forward to seeing them displayed together — two interpretations of a place that means a lot to me, created at different points in my artistic journey.
I'm delighted that both pieces will be on display at the Harbour Arts Centre (HAC) in Irvine throughout the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF), where this year's theme is Reflection.
I've included photographs of the stained glass in different lighting, alongside my earlier painting, so you can see how the landscape has inspired me in different ways.
If you're visiting the exhibition, I'd love for you to pop along and see them in person. 💙

✨A fresh look for Unique Reflections

I'm delighted to share my new business cards with you, and I thought it would be a lovely opportunity to introduce (or reintroduce!) what Unique Reflections is all about.

CREATIVITY WITHOUT A TEMPLATE 🎨

The phrase on the back of my card really sums up what I love about what I do.
Stained glass is my skilled trade and will always be a huge part of Unique Reflections, but my passion for creativity goes far beyond glass.
From copper-foiled stained glass courses and macramé to creative wellbeing sessions, seasonal crafts and bespoke handmade pieces, I'm always exploring new ideas and finding different ways to bring people together through creativity.

✨ Workshops for groups, charities and community organisations
✨ Creative wellbeing sessions that encourage connection, confidence and self-expression
✨ Private workshops in your own home or for special occasions
✨ Bespoke stained glass and handmade creations
✨ Collaborations, new ideas and something a little different!

The beauty of Unique Reflections is that no two workshops, pieces or experiences need to be the same.
I love being able to adapt what I offer to suit the people, the occasion and the experience they're looking for. Whether you're a complete beginner, looking to learn a new skill, or simply want to enjoy some creative time with others, there's something for everyone.

And there's more on the horizon…
I've also been working behind the scenes on some exciting new additions, including my own handmade soaps and other creations. They're not quite ready to launch, but I'll be sharing more when the time comes!
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Unique Reflections so far. Every booking, purchase, recommendation and share helps my little business grow, and I genuinely appreciate it. ❤️

So, if you have an idea for a workshop, a special occasion, a handmade gift or even something I've never tried before, please get in touch. I love a creative challenge!

✨ Your idea, your occasion, your people — uniquely reflected. ✨

✨Something new is beginning…✨

This year's Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival theme is REFLECTION — and as soon as I heard it, my mind started working.
This is the beginning of my piece…
A mirror, with the familiar outline of the Isle of Arran beginning to take shape along the horizon.

Arran is a view that has inspired countless paintings, photographs and pieces of craft, and it's a landscape instantly recognisable to so many of us here. Even more fittingly, Arran can be seen from the place where this piece will eventually be exhibited.
But there's another, much more personal reason I chose this view.
The beach is one of the places I go when I need time to think, breathe and reflect. I've spent many moments looking out towards Arran, pondering life, processing things and simply allowing myself to be still.
I also love that, because I'm working with a mirror, the sky in the artwork will never be fixed.
Whatever the sky looks like that day becomes part of the piece — bright blue, grey and stormy, soft clouds, changing light… even the fleeting reflection of birds as they fly past.
Just like us, the reflection will change from one moment to the next.
There is still lots more to come, and I'll share little glimpses as the piece develops, but I'm keeping the finished creation under wraps until the end.
For now, this is where my own Reflection begins.
I'd love to know — where do you go when you need space to reflect?

🍂🎃 Creative Recovery is back! 🎃🍂

Yesterday we welcomed a new group to the first session of Creative Recovery at North Ayrshire Wellbeing & Recovery College, and with the 1st of October arriving, it felt only right to start with some cosy autumn vibes. 🍁✨
As the darker nights begin to draw in, we spent the afternoon slowing things down, getting creative and enjoying some good company.
Using scraps of fabric and stuffing, we created our own gorgeous little pumpkins 🎃 — a lovely example of how something simple (and even something that might otherwise have been thrown away!) can be transformed into something completely new.
We also made beautiful nature-inspired lanterns, bringing a little warmth and light into the darker evenings ahead. 🕯️🍃
But Creative Recovery is never just about what we make. It's about having a safe, relaxed space to connect with others, try something new, switch off from everything else for a while and discover what creativity can bring to our wellbeing.
A lovely start to the new course.

🕊️ A little something different from my glass bench…

This dove was made as a special gift using white and clear textured iridescent glass. In normal light it’s beautifully subtle, but when the light catches it, little hints of rainbow appear throughout 🤍🌈🕊️

A little piece with a lot of meaning
During my most recent stained glass course with CLASP, we created something together that could stay behind long after the course had finished.
I designed the piece, taking inspiration from CLASP’s own logo with its clasped hands and flowers, and created it in glass. The lovely participants then each played a part in making the forget-me-not flowers that surround them.
What I love most about this piece is that it carries a little bit of everyone who took part in the course. Individual pieces, made by different hands, all brought together to create something complete — which feels very fitting for a charity centred around connection, friendship and community for the over 50s.
I’ll be donating the finished piece to CLASP, where it will be displayed for everyone to see.
It was such a lovely way to finish our time together, and hopefully it will be a lasting reminder of the creativity, laughs, friendships and connections made along the way.

Made by many hands, held together by connection.
