Here is my entry for the Old world new tricks painting competition!

This was a really fun challenge! - If you don't know, the point of the challenge is to paint the random mini, sent by travelling man, alongside a random selection of 4 paints and a basing material (with the addition of a pure white/black).

My selection of paints, as you can see in the last picture were,
Army Painter - Spellbound Fuchsia
AK - Golden Olive
Citadel - Flash Gitz Yellow
Vallejo - Gunmetal Silver (metallic)

I did find it really tricky not being able to use washes, as they add so much depth to a model and allow all the colours to gel together a lot nicer.
It did let me mess around with some fun colour mixes, which I likely would never have tried!

Very much looking forward to the next one! In the Meantime, I am open for commissions, so head on over to my page and send me a message, or follow the link in my bio for a free quote!

I have a towering ogre for you today!

This model was a real pleasure to paint. I had a lot of fun trying to get the skin tones just right and overall I was really happy with the final product. I started with a purple base coat, building up into a green, finishing with a yellowish-green combining the layers with a green wash.
In terms of the cloth, again I felt like this came out very nicely.

I am open for commission, I offer low cost-quick turnaround miniature painting to allow everyone access to good quality tabletop miniatures. Head on over to my page .by.design and send me a message, or simply follow the link in my bio to my commission form.

The final model from haul! This was definitely one of my favourite models, and one I debated over the colour scheme of for a while.

I toyed betweeen making the axe arm have a firey undertone to it, however settled on a fleshy-rippled look and felt like this definitely was the right choice as I was very happy with how it came out. Starting with a dark red undertone, building up into lighter reds and finishing with a very light skin tone in various areas to give the appearance of ripped flesh worked perfectly. Of course this couldn't have been finished off without some blood effects paints!

The red undertones also worked as a nice base for the normal skin tones as well, allowing the model to be more cohesive in general.

Another fun model from today.

I had a really good time painting this model up. I wanted to focus on the base, to create a nice believable icy environment.
Overall I think the colours came together nicely and then I finished off with a small sprinkling of an icy blue over the model to give it the feel of a man walk through a snowstorm, of which I was very happy with.

Another model from today.

I wanted to use a slightly different colour for the cloak with this model, so I went for a teal/turquoise (which Is one of my favourite colours generally) And I was quite happy with the final product! A few washes of Blue and green tones at different stages really brought it together.

Non-metallic metals! Now that's something that's always a challenge. They are absolutely something that you have to 'trust the process' of. If I show you mine, will you show me yours? 🎨🖌

NMM is something I definitely strive to push myself to get better at, especially silver/grey metals as I always end up being less happy with my attempts at these!
With this model, being made mostly of metals, I wanted to give it a really good go.

I was incredibly happy with all of the metalwork on this model from . I really trusted the process and it just all comes together when adding that final white/bright highlight!

Overall I was very happy with this model, even the clothes and scales came together nicely.

Entirely painted with Army painter Warpaints fanatics.

Don't look now, Medusa's right there!

Another of the models that I received from . I really wanted to focus on my skin tones and try to improve them so that was my main focus with this model. I was really happy with how the flesh turned out.
I was also really happy with the glazing I used to mix the body to the tail and the scales to the tail. Overall a really fun model to paint!
