155 Interior Design Residential Interior Designer | Specialising in Consultancy and Bespoke Design Welcome to 155 Interior Design. Created and run by me, Francesca.

I have always loved interiors, and if you’re here reading this, I’m guessing you do too. For me, when I step through my door I am transported somewhere safe, somewhere welcoming, with just the right vibe. My signature style has evolved into something unique to me, where I truly feel at home. I want to feel that I have made this the best possible place for me. So, how do you want to live? At 155 (One Fifty Five), I aim to work with you to develop your personal style, coaching you through the design and decorating process, and helping you to finesse the styling so you feel supported and empowered to create your ideal home. Whether you own or you rent, it doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up so much as a paintbrush or struggle to visualise the end result. I can coach you in creating the room of your dreams. I do know though, that this takes time and needs careful curation - I understand from experience, the pitfalls of trying to take a vision from my mind’s eye into the physical space without proper planning and sourcing. It used to feel like something was just ‘off’. Fortunately all you need is a helping hand, someone to put those designs on paper, source that shopping list and provide a ready made plan - which is exactly what 155 can do for you with our E-design service. The rest is in your capable hands because you’ll have all the tools you need to bring the designs to life - but don’t worry - we’ll still be on hand to offer support. If you’re all done with the big decoration and are just ready to style the room, 155 can help there too! It’s the details which can bring the whole scheme together and we sweat the small stuff so you don’t have to. Our styling service coaches you through adding those all important finishing touches to really bring a room alive with your personality and interests. I wanted to build a design service that centres you, that celebrates what you can do and that teaches you that you can feel amazing in your home. So whether you have a blank slate to work from, need a refresh, or even just need help with styling - book a free 30 minute online consultation with me today. I can’t wait to work with you!

Ok, we’ve got a little name change - why?

Because I lost my mojo and I’ve been on a mission to get it back.

I still love interiors and I love interior design because it lets me create beautiful things, it’s romantic, it’s creative, it’s lovely.

And I’ve worked on some gorgeous spaces in the past few years…

But interior design is also very big on rules sometimes - and I’ve realised that I am not. And positioning myself in that way has kind of boxed me in.

So, I mean, I’m still going to share projects with you and I’ve got some new services coming up too…

But over here in this corner of the internet, I mainly want to make you feel excited about your homes, and be excited about mine again.

I want to share how I make my everyday feel better…

So come romanticise life with me… ✨it’s nice to have you here.

Let’s talk about nice bread

Yes, really.

When I went shopping the other week, someone had left their list in the trolley and on it was simply ‘nice bread’

And I knew exactly what they meant by that and why they wanted it.

It wasn’t just bread, bog standard hovis for a couple of rounds of toast or a quick sarnie.

Nice bread to enjoy - to make those slices of toast just that bit more indulgent, that you look forward to eating.

And it really made me smile, the phrasing of it, because it felt human and created a small sort of connection with a stranger, knowing what was important to them.

And it’s funny because It’s the same thing I think about when it comes to our homes.

We talk a lot about decorating our spaces, adding value to the house or helping us feel organised and stylish.

But beyond the practicalities it’s about making the most of our homes in small ways too, adding to our everyday experiences. Flowers, books, a proper cup of coffee - nice bread - it all counts and I think it makes us feel happier.

So, don’t forget, put some nice bread on your list.

On Monday I posted about taste vs style when it comes to your home - and this was such a great question in the comments.

So here’s how I decide before I buy anything.

1. I have to know what it’s for? Does the item have a practical function, is it needed to fill a space, bring some interest to the room? Or does it just look nice.

2. Does it fit the vibe that I’m wanting to create in the room? I like to pick a few key words and everything I put in the room has to meet at least one of those words. It helps me with the vision and it helps me to narrow down my options when I’m shopping.

If I can answer those two questions properly then I’m on to a winner.

And I’ll be sharing some more content on how I pick those key words, and how you can refine your own over the next couple of weeks…

But in the meantime, what was the last thing you bought that was a really good choice?

I saw an excellent reel by talking about taste vs style when it comes to fashion and she absolutely hit the nail on the head.

And it got me thinking…

Lots of fashion theory can be applied to our home - and well, of course - because it’s not just aesthetics is it? How something looks is as important as how it makes us feel, and not everything is going to work for us.

When it comes to interiors, you can love a boutique hotel, a modern restaurant and a grand country house…

But you don’t have to recreate all that in your own home.

It’s about curating a space that you like, but more importantly, that you connect with.

And if you’re feeling stuck or like you’re going round in circles trying to make things work, then let’s have a chat and we’ll figure it out together.

Part 2 of this living room update and we’re in the design phase…

After our consultations, I put together a design that worked well in the space, incorporating existing furniture and adding in some new to give this room the upgrade it deserved.

I used sample boards, 2d renders and a 3d sketch up model to really visualise the room as a whole.

Let me know what you think and keep an eye out for part three where I’ll show you the final reveal!

Part one of a living room project I worked on earlier this year.

This house was stunning and the client already had so much of her personality in the space, but she was ready for an update.

After we had our discovery call and she filled out my questionnaire, I searched through inspiration and narrowed down her wants and needs for the space - ready for our first big consultation. We decided on the direction we wanted to go in the design and off I went to pull it together…

Stay tuned for part two!

Life lately ✨ in and around, at home and about.
From Bristol to Wales, to Havana and Sunderland. Quite the mix, with a few beautiful spaces to inspire me and of course, home. Where I enjoy it the absolute most.

Little Miss Inside Hobbies has gone and got herself an outside hobby.

And it was when I was sitting there eating comfort food, in my comfortable living room, I realised just how successful my home was helping me recalibrate.

I’m not saying you need to get a new, slightly risky hobby to feel it. Whether you’ve been out networking, socialising or even just sitting in a traffic jam at 5pm, being able to come home to your own space is one of life’s nice things

But if your home is feeling like something else on your to do list, it’s not actually that nice.

So maybe it’s time to make a change?

Drop me a message and let’s make your home feel better.

If you ever want to have an honest conversation, have it with a 9 year old.

Yesterday, I was invited into a local primary school as part of their careers week - to talk to them about my job.

My job wasn’t the easiest to guess but the children had some really insightful questions about it and how I help my clients.

Dare I say, some of them even seemed excited. More so because they thought I’d whipped a taser out my bag but they did think the laser measure was cool.

And they were weirdly hung up on using wallpaper instead of paint - but who knows what the young’uns are into these days.

All this to say, it was a brilliant afternoon and I hope that at least one of them might have been inspired.

But more likely, they want to be like the other lady there that worked in television. And that one kid that wanted to be a bricklayer and asked for a job in 6 years time.

In the meantime, if there’s any questions that weren’t answered here, ask away!
