I hope my friend doesn’t mind me posting this, but today I was lucky enough to celebrate my friend Charis’ 50th birthday with some very special women.
Looking at this photo, I don’t just see four women. I see four girls who met when we were around 10 years old, growing up together, sharing dreams, laughter, worries and all the things that seemed so important back then. Life took us in different directions, but somehow, 40 years later, here we are again.
What I see today are four independent women who have worked hard for everything they have. Women who have built businesses, raised families, run homes, overcome challenges, survived heartbreak, celebrated successes and kept going when life got tough. Women with strength, resilience and determination.
It also made me think about something important.
When I got home, I realised how much I wanted my children, and all the young people who follow me, to know that I was once a kid too. A girl with big dreams, huge ambitions and a head full of ideas. It honestly feels like yesterday.
The women in this photo were those girls too.
None of us had life figured out. We learned as we went. We made mistakes. We fell down. We got back up. We worked hard. We kept believing. And little by little, we built lives we are proud of.
So if you’re young and wondering whether your dreams will come true, don’t stop believing. Every strong woman you admire was once a child with dreams and ambitions just like yours.
Forty years later, we’re still here. Still standing. Still learning. Still laughing. Still supporting one another. Still chasing goals. Still showing up for our families and ourselves.
From age 10 to 50, we’ve fought the fight, weathered the storms and celebrated the wins. We are mothers, daughters, wives, friends, businesswomen and carers. We wear a hundred different hats every day and somehow keep it all moving.
And yes, we’re still looking pretty good while doing it.
Here’s to lifelong friendships, ambitious children, strong women and never forgetting where you came from.
Because behind every successful woman is a little girl who dared to dream.
From age 10 to 50, we’re still rocking it. ❤️
