Weddings are full of emotion, and sometimes the people we most wish could be there are the ones we miss the most.
Steph has seen couples include beautiful floral touches to honour loved ones who can't be part of the day and there are also so many beautiful remembrance ideas online too that other past brides have done. This could be flowers placed on a reserved chair, a favourite bloom included in a bouquet, or a small arrangement alongside a treasured photograph.
One particularly beautiful idea Steph recently discussed with a couple was created to honour the bride's mum, who had sadly passed away before the wedding day. Rather than having a traditional memorial tribute, they chose to make flowers part of the ceremony itself.
Each member of the wedding party will hand a single flower to the groom before the ceremony begins. When he meets the bride's dad at the end of the aisle, he will then hand those flowers to him. The bride will add the final flower herself, creating a meaningful collection of blooms that represents everyone coming together to support her and honour her mum's memory.
Later, those flowers will be wrapped into a bouquet for her dad to privately lay on her mum's grave — creating a lasting connection between the wedding day and the person they were remembering.

It's a beautiful reminder that flowers are not just decorations. They can carry memories, represent people we love, and become part of the moments that matter most.

Wedding Flower Grannies

Move over flower girls — Wedding Flower Grannies are having their moment!

One of the sweetest trends Steph has seen is couples involving grandparents, aunties or special family members in the ceremony by giving them the honour of scattering petals before the couple arrives.

It's unexpected, joyful and usually guarantees plenty of smiles too.

It's also a lovely reminder that weddings don't have to follow traditions just because they've always been done that way. The best traditions are the ones that mean something to you.

Luna And Light Ceremonies

Steph's approach as a wedding celebrant is simple — every couple deserves a ceremony that feels like theirs.
There are no templates, no copy-and-paste scripts, and no two ceremonies are ever the same. Instead, Steph takes the time to get to know each couple, understand their story, and create a ceremony that captures the little details that make their relationship special.

Whether you're planning an outdoor wedding, a barn celebration, a festival-style day or a traditional venue wedding, Steph helps couples create a ceremony filled with laughter, happy tears and moments they'll remember forever.

Her motto says it perfectly:

Your story, beautifully told.

Wedding ceremonies have changed so much over the years. More and more couples are moving away from feeling like they have to follow a set formula, choosing instead to create a ceremony that feels personal, meaningful, and completely their own.

Whether that's writing your own vows, including loved ones in unexpected ways, or creating little moments that reflect your story as a couple, it's often these thoughtful touches that guests remember long after the confetti has settled.

As wedding florists, we see it all the time. The weddings that stay with us aren't always the biggest or the most extravagant—they're the ones where every detail feels intentional.

Mia's Top Tip

Keep one copy of your final wedding flower proposal or photo saved of your wedding day flowers.

Because five years from now you'll have forgotten half of what was in it.

The varieties you fell in love with, the colours you chose, the little details that made your wedding yours.

It's one of the easiest ways to recreate a bouquet or floral design for an anniversary in years to come.

Grace Emily Design

A talented local Liverpool artist who creates beautifully detailed illustrated artworks, prints, and gifts inspired by iconic landmarks and places of meaning.

Each piece is first hand-drawn in pencil, then carefully refined in black ink. She often builds depth and atmosphere using a combination of vibrant watercolour and acrylic paint, sometimes finished with soft digital overlays to create a beautiful contemporary feel.

For a first anniversary, one of the most thoughtful ideas is to buy a print or to commission a bespoke illustration of the place you got married — whether that’s a Liverpool landmark such as the Royal Albert Dock, Sefton Park Palm House, Penny Lane, or Liverpool Town Hall, or a smaller, more personal venue that holds meaning to you as a couple.

Thinking outside the box with anniversary gifts

It’s not always about recreating your wedding flowers exactly — it’s about taking the essence of them and turning it into something that shows up again in new, thoughtful ways. The colours, the scent, the feeling they gave you on the day… all of that can be used as inspiration for gifts and gestures that bring those memories back in different forms…Here's a few idea's:

Recreate the feeling, not the flowers - Build a bouquet in the same colour palette as your wedding flowers, even if the varieties are completely different.

Choose a signature flower - Pick one flower from your wedding bouquet and make it “yours” going forward — appearing in future gifts, arrangements, or celebrations.

Gift a living reminder - If you had roses, peonies, Orchids or another standout bloom in your bouquet, consider gifting a plant version to grow together year after year.

Link flowers with scent - Choose perfumes, candles, or home fragrances inspired by your wedding flowers to bring those memories back in an instant.

Florally Gifts - Use your wedding blooms as gift inspiration for artwork, printed cushions, coasters, jewellery and keepsakes that bring those memories into your everyday.

Modern, Traditional & Alternative Anniversary Gifts

Whether you're celebrating your very first anniversary or a pearl wedding anniversary, finding the perfect gift isn't always easy. Do you stick with tradition? Embrace a modern alternative? Or try to find completely unique alternative anniversary gifts that reflects your relationship?

Let us help you explore traditional anniversary gifts by year, modern anniversary gifts by year, and creative alternatives that help make every milestone feel personal and memorable.

What Are Traditional and Modern Wedding Anniversary Gifts By Year?
The tradition of assigning gifts to wedding anniversaries dates back centuries. Originally, each anniversary year was associated with a material that reflected the strength and growth of a marriage. The further you progressed through married life, the stronger and more valuable the materials became.

In more recent years, modern anniversary gift lists by year of marriage have also emerged, offering contemporary alternatives to these traditional milestones.

Whether you prefer to follow tradition or create your own interpretation, understanding the symbolism behind each anniversary can make gift giving feel much more meaningful.

When it comes to choosing your wedding flowers, there’s usually a reason they make the shortlist.

Perhaps it’s the scent of freesia that reminds you of home. A favourite flower that’s appeared in your family for generations. Or simply a bloom that made you stop scrolling and think, “That’s the one.”

Then your wedding day happens, and those flowers become woven into the memories of the day itself — from the moment you see your bridal bouquet for the first time after months of planning, to the reactions from your bridesmaids at your first look. Catching sight of your partner waiting at the end of the aisle wearing the buttonhole you chose together. Sitting down for your wedding breakfast and seeing your nearest and dearest surrounded by flowers that have helped transform the room with colour, texture, and fragrance.

Years later, seeing those same flowers again can instantly transport you back to any one of those touchpoints.

That’s why we love the idea of wedding flowers growing with your marriage — for the day itself AND as something that can keep unlocking memories long after. In our upcoming posts, we’re looking at how your wedding flowers can continue to show up in your anniversaries, traditions, and all those little moments in between.
