Happy Independence Day Grenada 🇬🇩
This work tells the story of Malvina, an enslaved woman from Carriacou who was taken with her Scottish enslavers to their ancestral home to care for their children. While she was “treated well”, she missed home so much she would request a newspaper from Carriacou be sent to her annually.
Created on a bamboo souvenir tray, this work reimagines the longing she must have felt for her homeland and returns her there.
