‘Timelines’, Screen print, spray paint and oil pastel on paper.

Studying MA Fine Art has had such a massive impact on my creative practice. Its been refreshing to be able to focus purely on print design away from a commercial and fashion mindset that I’ve had in my previous work, excited for what the next year has to come 🤩

‘Timelines’ is inspired from personal narrative with links to Celtic mythology, symbolism and colour. I invite the viewer to become immersed in a colourful world which evokes a rich mix of visual and cultural references, including psychedelia. I’ve been drawn to picturing nature that is native to Ireland and has ties to Celtic mythology, in a still-life style reminiscent of a blurred lens or eye trying to focus. Using processes of screen print and collage I can explore different papers and materials to create visual tension and more dynamic surfaces. Grainy textures are achieved through digital manipulation and spray paint, creating an aesthetic which is dreamy and nostalgic. Each piece still retains the freshness and variance of spray painting while incorporating the repetitive nature of print.

A few snaps of some paper screen prints I’ve done this week 🌈 I’ve been putting most of my energy into my Fine Art masters recently, so the lampshades and bags are taking a bit of a back seat at the moment (sewing my products takes up a lot of time!)
