Minuscule mint moth, with pinkie finger nail for size if you swipe.

A second batch of these little beauties usually emerges from the the end of July and remain on the wing until mid September.

Look out for them sunning themselves near mint or lemon balm plants.

This tiny purple and orange moth is a cutie.

Autumn Is The Best Time To Scatter Wildflower Seeds!
In the wild, native wildflowers drop their seeds by Autumn. This natural process ensures that seeds lie dormant over the winter months, ready to burst into life at the perfect time to welcome Spring. By scattering your seeds or seed balls in autumn, you’re mimicking this time-tested cycle, often resulting in higher germination rates. You’re essentially letting nature take the lead, giving your seeds the best possible chance to thrive.

September Wildflowers
Wildflowers to look out for in September, include the dark pink flowers of Common Mallow (Malva sylvestris). The French name for ‘mallow’ is 'mauve' and the mauve flowers of Scabious may also still be spotted blooming in early September.

In the hedgerows an insignificant flower but important for wildlife may also beginning to bloom - Ivy provides much nectar and pollen for insects at the end of the summer and into autumn.

Don't hate me just because I'm fabulous.
The Common Wasp - (Vespula vulgaris) is a fantastic pollinator and garden pest controller, as well as being partial to a picnic or two.

Bees In Extreme Heat 🐝
Bumblebees, in their fluffy jackets, find it difficult to fly at temperatures above 28°C.

Help bees in the warm weather by adding a simple to make bee pit-stop, near flowers. Simply fill a shallow container with water and pebbles, for them to balance on while they drink.

In hot weather, bees will need to forage in the morning or evenings, when it is cooler. This lowers their ability to collect as much food during the day; added to this, the hot weather also causes plants to hold onto their moisture and produce less nectar.

Let everyone know you’re Feeding The Bees by marking your wildflower patch 🙂

What better way to mark out a space for busy pollinators, than with our Feeding the Bees sign. Growing wildflowers is a brilliant way to support bees and other wildlife too!

Try to grow a variety of different flowers including quick growing annuals and longer lasting perennials. This way the patch will flower for longer through the spring and summer, maximising the time that bees can visit your patch for food.

Made from durable steel that will naturally age and rust over time. To use simply push the stake into the soil next to or in a wildflower patch.

Size of the sign is 26cm x 19.5cm (packaging size is 26.7cm x 20.4cm).
