Soooo one of my reels went a little bit mental this week on another app — nearly 40k views and almost 1k new followers, which is just amazing.

Can we do the same on Facebook?

If you're wondering what I actually do: I'm a watercolour artist living on a wide beam boat, bobbing around on a canal somewhere in the UK, and art is genuinely my whole income. I don’t have a day job to fall back on, but I might need to return to employment.

I am honestly so blown away by the response to my art from my recent reel, it’s really made my heart sing - my socials and website stats were like a graveyard, and I’d told myself that this was it, the last attempt, if I can’t make it this time, I will be putting my paints away and going back to office work - but your comments and all the love that you’ve given me are making me believe that maybe, just maybe, I can make this work.

This is where you beautiful people come in.

If this made you smile, or if a pet portrait / wildlife print / monthly art subscription sounds like your kind of thing — you know where to find me. The shop link is in the bio. Tracy Christina Art is open for business!

Hey all! So I just had a reel go a bit crazy on Instagram (which I totally wasn’t expecting but is absolutely amazing), and I’ve had a few hundred new followers which has blown me away, along with some really lovely comments about my art which has made me feel so loved and happy.

I decided it would be a great time to introduce myself, so here I am! My name is Tracy, I’m a watercolour artist, and I live on a boat on the Grand Union Canal in the UK, with my two cats - Olive and Merlin.

I paint pet portraits, wildlife, nature, and people portraits - and I love bringing life to what I paint. I have aphantasia, which means I can’t see anything in my minds eye - but I like to think I make up for that with some kick-ass observation skills, and by tapping into my other senses to see past what we see and move into what we feel on a deeper level.

If you’d like to know more about what I do and see more of my work, please do head over to my website and have a look - I also sell prints of some of my previous pieces and you can find out how to commission me for your very own piece of art šŸ©·ā˜ŗļø

Thank you so much for all the love 🄰

I have finally gotten around to doing some important admin stuff lately - editing my website, working on this mystical thing called SEO that’s going to eventually bring more people to my website, where they might even buy something! It’s funny really - I put it off because I told myself ā€œI hate adminā€ - when I worked in an office, my job was all about customer service and administration. And I really am not the most organised person, plus I don’t really like being shouted at or dealing with someone else’s manufactured sense of urgency.

But you know what? Over the last few days I’ve actually really enjoyed leaning into getting some of the ā€œbehind the scenesā€ stuff done - it felt really good. I got into a rhythm. I can do it whilst melting on the sofa with iced coffee (we’re having a heat wave in the UK for which I was entirely unprepared) and binge-watching ER - which I’m convinced is a way for me to body double and create a sense of urgency in my brain, because all the time they’re saving someone’s life on a gurney, I kinda feel that by taking action, I’m saving my own life too.

Being an artist isn’t just about making art. Not these days. There’s so much more that goes into it. Promotion and marketing. Admin. Packing orders up, processing stuff, dealing with endless spam messages and wishing that even half of the spammers were real clients.

But, do you know what?

I would not change a thing. I might not be very good at it, some of it feels difficult and overwhelming - but actually, I love it all. I love the variety of hats I have to wear and all of the different things I get to do. So if you think that doing the thing that makes you happy will be hard - well, it probably will be. But it will be 100% worth it.

I wanted to check out my paints and paper to see how they fare with the heat and humidity, so I don’t go ruining some of my bigger pieces of expensive paper - so I thought I’d paint a lil something.

I was going to call it ā€œkiss my cloacaā€ but I think ā€œbottoms up!ā€ might be slightly more family friendly 🤣

I’ll be listing this painting of swans feeding on the canal on my website soon, or you can PM me to claim it, if swan butts are your thing. It’s ok; I won’t tell anyone!

I’m an artist. And I love it. I live on a Widebeam canal boat in the UK, my home is my studio, I always have a beautiful view (and at the moment that view is often frequented by fluffy chicks, and damselflies dashing to and fro.)

I paint watercolour pet portraits, watercolour people portraits, from miniatures to A3 - and I also paint wildlife, insects, and the occasional landscape.

Pinch me. Is this a dream? It sometimes feels like a dream.

I have a few new followers, definitely not because I posted a tacky reel asking for likes and follows...

ANYWAY!

Some of you might be wondering who I am. (I know I do...)
If you'd like to know more, I wrote a blog about it, and you can find it in the first comment.

And in the meantime, here is a picture of one of my magnificent cats, Merlin, who definitely did not make me chase him through the boat this morning because of a di*******ry that needed to be retrieved from his backside...

The internet told me the secret to growth is to beg for likes and follows at the end of every video. So obviously I'm far too sophisticated for that šŸ™„šŸ«£

I will, however, mention that I paint watercolour pet portraits, wildlife art and commissioned pieces from a widebeam boat on the canals of England, and if that sounds like your kind of artist to have on your feed — the button's right there.
No pressure. Absolutely no pressure šŸ˜
