It's the start of a new healing phase for the Crone today, and this comes with the seedlings of a new project.
For those followers who don't know, the cancer treatment I was undertaking stopped working. I'm incredibly lucky to have been accepted onto a clinical trial for a targeted therapy - I'm on a bus right now to Guy's for my first assessment session and to sign the consent.
And so, the bus route I am on today is going to be one very familiar over coming weeks. Lots of space for musing 'Crone, interrupted' - a new blend of words and images both here and on Substack exploring cronehood through the lens of chronic illness.
I hope you find some hope and glimmers as you follow along and the new trajectory unfolds.
Image descriptions:
1. The words crone, interrupted on a blue, purple and white background.

So glad I took the time to attend Mindful Morning today with Orlaith O'Sullivan - Mindfulness wonderful talk about Celtic mythology. I've learned about Goddess Danu of the water who I am sure will be featuring in my work soon as she manifests around my coastal home. Thank you all for a contemplative and inspirational start to the day.

Living with a chronic illness means that the last few days after the exhibition have been about strictly prioritising rest. As encouraged by Tricia Hersey in the Nap Ministry, the Crone Hounds and I have been sleeping lots, and minimising activity to what is most vital. It’s important to own my privilege here - having the resources and support to be able to do this is a blessing that not everyone freely has.

Do check out Tricia’s work - centring rest is just one way we can opt out of the capitalist, misogynistic and racist system which objectifies our bodies as tools for output, even as creatives, artists and helpers.

First go at formal sacred geometry drawing using ruler and compass. It was really meditative to create this triple spiral from this wonderful tutorial from .art https://youtu.be/B8luJDecaKw?si=Ed4Oq5sTzMbgFbpa

Now I know I have the patience to do the style justice I will do more!

Images show the unfolding of a green triple spiral from circles and lines (seed of life).

Shadow the Greyhound came to visit yesterday with his wonderful owner. He looks so much like Charlie the Crone Hound we had to do a double take!

Today’s creative work is called ‘Love’s Work’ inspired by a musing from Lucy Aphramor many years ago, ‘Is it Love’s Work?’ suggested as a way of evaluating what is important in life and which callings to follow. This exhibition certainly IS Love’s Work 🙏🏻
