A little throwback to this time last year… ✨

This time last year, we made our Decorex International | Europe’s Luxury Interior Design Show debut, exhibiting for the very first time! What an incredible experience, and one we still look back on with such fond memories.

Our beautiful stand was thoughtfully designed by the incredibly talented Dan Lovatt | Designer & Creator and brought to life with the help of some wonderful brands and collaborators. A huge thank you to Burlington Bathrooms, Broadleaf | Beautiful British Wood Floors, Imogen Heath, This is The Paint. , Rose & Grey, Fox Collective Communications and Pooky for being part of it. 🤎

Fast forward a year and we’re back, but this time as visitors, soaking up the inspiration, discovering exciting new designs and catching up with industry friends!

A special shoutout to our fabulous paint partners This is The Paint., who have created something truly memorable with The COAT House. Embracing nostalgia and the character of real homes, their thoughtfully curated, lived-in setting celebrates timeless interiors over fleeting trends, with colours and pieces to be loved for years to come.

After a wonderful weekend exhibiting at FIELD + SUPPLY Fall Market in New York and The Listed Property Show in Malvern, we’re ready for a slower Sunday evening. And what better way to unwind than with a good story? ☕️

Nestled within Straloch Estate in the Scottish Highlands, a former Victorian schoolhouse has found a new lease of life as a charming countryside retreat.

Built in 1849, The Schoolhouse has been lovingly restored by Lucy Holt, who grew up on the estate and once attended the school herself. Her vision was to preserve its original character while creating a welcoming, comfortable space for guests to enjoy.

But there’s more to this transformation than meets the eye. Behind its historic walls, custom-made Castrads cast iron radiators and reclaimed originals work alongside a modern air-source heat pump, combining timeless design with energy-efficient heating. The result is a carefully considered solution that keeps The Schoolhouse cosy all year round.

Castrads will be exhibiting at The Listed Property Show this Friday and Saturday at the Three Counties Showground in Worcestershire.

If you’re restoring a listed building or renovating a period property, come and see our cast iron radiators in person.

We’ll be showcasing own cast iron radiator families:
Mercury • Emmeline • Grace • Rococo

Alongside our vintage originals, many which are over 100 years old and reclaimed from historic buildings. Carefully restored, each retains the unique character and craftsmanship of its past.

Bold but classic is the thread running through this recent renovation and restoration in Mellor, Stockport.

The radiators may have been among the last pieces to take their place, but they were some of the first decisions to be made.
We first visited this charming 1930s house back in August, looking at where each radiator would sit and calculating the warmth needed for every room. With an ageing heating system ready for an upgrade, the move from steel to cast iron also meant planning the necessary pipework alterations early on.

Because heating is as much a functional part of a room as it is a design decision, and the best time to think about it is long before the finishing touches.

By early October, after walls had gone back to brick, plaster had dried, original joinery restored, colours and papers chosen, and floorboards sanded and varnished, the Emmeline radiators could finally take their place.

And after all that planning, they look like they’ve always belonged.

Moving into autumn, we’ve been playing with warmer colours, softer textures and combinations that make a room feel that little bit cosier.

Soft greens, earthy reds, faded pinks and warm brass, layered with pattern and texture. Shuffling samples around, holding them next to one another and finding unexpected pairings.

Paint, fabric and finishes can look completely different when you see them together. Sometimes the combination you hadn’t considered is the one that feels just right.

A few highlights from Design Central North West at Capesthorne Hall

Two great days spent talking radiators, interiors and upcoming projects in a rather fitting setting.

It was a pleasure to show our cast iron radiators, finishes and colours in person, catch up with familiar faces and meet plenty of new ones along the way.
