Loving these warmer evenings...though I dare say, we'll be grumbling about the lack of grass in a couple of weeks!

After the mud bath that was winter, it's nice to be able to go down the fields in trainers.
The sheep are a small hobby of ours. In a previous life both of us worked outdoors, and it's lovely to get some fresh air outside of work...although I don't miss working outside in January!!

Gorgeous morning, between feeding up and sitting down at my desk, I can't resist a quick peek at the garden...it's not all good...

Anyone else battling box blight? We planted the hedge 11 years ago this spring, while Tilly slept in her pram. Four years ago it succumbed to the dreaded blight.
This weekend I pruned it back hard in an effort to create more air circulation...if anyone has any tips, I'd be really grateful!

We're getting lots of frosts too, the Dahlia plants are growing and I have trays of seedlings ready to plant on, as usual I've overplanted🤦‍♀️😊x

I'm a sucker for a good pair of secateurs. The really expensive ones are great until you lose them..😭

These are a great midway pair. They're really well made and have a nice weight to them and cut through quite woody growth easily. They're made from drop forged steel and Ash wood handles.
I'm holding onto this pair!!

COMING SOON! Meet our FIRST Local Food Hero on our FIRST Cook’s Walk!

We’re so excited to share that on Saturday 25 April we will be hosting our first monthly Cook’s Walk! Gilly, your host will lead you on a behind the scenes walking tour featuring culture, art and the history of Malton. Of course, we’ll always be about the food and drink, and we’ll be inviting our Food Heroes along for lunch with you too!

*We’ll be sharing all the dates with you very soon – so watch this space!*

Our first tour Food Hero will be Justin from Staal Smokehouse. For 15 years, this family business has been sharing award winning, hand smoked products from their smokehouse near Beverley, and a short way from the East Yorkshire coastline. Come join Justin for lunch at our first ever Cook’s Walk, you’ll be able to book very soon!

After a very busy run up to Christmas, Father Chritmas's Elves are in need of a rest...so our store closes today at 2pm. We are open throughout the Christmas holidays on reduced hours.

We'll be dispatching online orders from Monday 29th December.

Well, that was a blast. A little round-up of the month that was August.

It's always a balancing act of work and school holidays and we're very grateful for everyone who bears with us while we take a week off and get away for a holiday with the kids.
Here's what we did:

1. Storefront planters. Viburnum Eve Price is growing on well.
2. An amazing gig at Halifax. I was a little hoarse the following morning!
3. Cut sunflowers and gladioli from the garden
4. Intense concentration watching win at
5. Dan looking super relaxed on the first morning of our holiday in Dorset.
6. The kids spent most of the week bodyboarding
7. Bowley and Jackson tote coming in handy on the beach (we're doing these again!)
8. Back to it with a new How-to blog post..all about planting Dolly tubs.
9. The pizza oven is getting a new roof ahead of our joint 50th birthday party this month!
10. Restocked Dolly planters
11. Back to school and back to work...refreshed and ready to go x
