Now available from Amazon in paperback and on kindle! Thedore the Little Brave Dog is based on a true story. It is a gentle, heartwarming children’s story that helps young readers understand IVDD — a condition that affects many dachshunds and other long‑backed dogs. This beautifully illustrated book shows how a little dog and his family work together to overcome a big challenge.

When Theodore’s back suddenly hurts, everything changes. He can’t jump on the sofa, climb the stairs, or chase his favourite toys. But with ramps, rest, medicine, and lots of love, Theodore learns that healing takes time and that being brave doesn’t always mean being fast or strong. Sometimes it means letting others help.

This story teaches children:

What IVDD is in simple, friendly language
How dogs feel when their backs are sore
Why ramps, slings, and careful movement matter
How families support pets through recovery
That disabilities don’t change how lovable or special someone is
Perfect for ages 3–9, this book blends emotional reassurance with real‑world learning. It’s ideal for families with dachshunds, classrooms exploring empathy, or any child who loves animals and uplifting stories.

With expressive illustrations and a comforting message, Theodore the Little Brave Dog helps children understand that healing is a journey — and that every small step forward is something to celebrate.

That’s a Wrap!

At 4pm today, we closed the door of Artizan for the final time after 5 wonderful years in Comber. We opened on 15 August 2020 — right in the thick of a pandemic (great timing!) — and what a journey it’s been.

From industrial-style furniture to gorgeous local crafts, we’ve been lucky to be part of your homes, your gifts, and your shopping adventures.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported us, shared our posts, told their friends, or just came in for a wee browse and a yarn. You kept us going — truly.

It’s time now for new adventures (and maybe less lifting of heavy furniture). Here’s to what’s next — and to each of you, thank you from the bottom of our Artizan hearts.

See you down the road!
