(Trigger warning - we teared up a bit hearing this!)
G I F T S T O T R A N S P O R T
Some feedback from a client that brought a little tear to my eye this week, a lady had purchased a Manta Ray lamp for her elderly father because he loved the ocean and was no longer physically able to make the journey to the coast. He now spends a fair amount of time staring at the lamp in the evenings, remembering the ocean and imagining what diving would be like.
This week my Grandpa passed away and I'm gutted I didn't think of this 😔 (Alex, not Adam) - he was in a care home at the end but not at all for very long and I'm annoyed with myself I didn't take him one to perk his room up. Lovely as it was I think he'd have loved one. I literally got told this feedback the day after he passed away (he was 93 and had done incredibly well, he needed a rest did Grandpa Roy) and I'm kicking myself. It hadn't occurred to me that these little lamps could actually provide a window to the outside world, ocean lovers in particular, that otherwise can't get to one. The thought of something Adam made doing that for someone had us a bit misty eyed to tell the truth. It's made me think about the possibility of working with care homes and hospitals though.
