Kintsugi Photo Tiles Collection / Crimea Restaurant Warsaw
The venue is not randomly picked. It’s a Crimean restaurant run by .krym , Crimean Tatar living in exile. It’s a beautiful restaurant with a mission to witness, fix and pass the truth about russian hostility against Ukraine.
The Exhibition of Kintsugi Photo Tiles DOUBLE DESTRUCTION / SAVING MEMORY is an Art Sale of 14 pieces of ceramic art works involving photographs by Serhiy Klymenko and porcelain by Muru Ceramics. The photographs are taken near the front line in places severely affected by russian aggression on Ukraine. It is our aim to raise money from the sale and help 118 Separate Mechanised Brigade to buy a pickup track.
Serhiy Klymenko based in Kyiv, Ukraine is a very talented photographer and a tv crew in one of Ukrainian leading tv channels. In 2023 he worked as a war correspondent in Donetsk and Zaporizzhya Regions where he took the documentary photographs presented in the project.
Muruceramics is a British , Surrey based ceramic design studio run by Wojciech Skowronek. Wojciech studied at LAM in Lviv, Ukraine in 2004. Since the outbreak of full scale russian invasion in Ukraine 2022 he is actively participating in charities supporting Ukraine.
Saving Memory - Ceramics are probably the oldest and most durable storage medium. Ceramic objects can survive thousands of years of various storms, they will survive fire. The resulting records of photography in ceramic material are small A5 tiles carrying visual information about this extremely cruelty against Ukrainians,
Double Destruction / The project uses one of the most noble and damage-resistant ceramic materials - porcelain. Various ceramic techniques were used such as mosaic, serigraphy, photography, kintsugi. Kintsugi is an intention of putting all back together what once has been physically broken and highlghting the scars with gold. The photographs of destroyed Ukraine are printed on fire damaged, deformed ceramic tiles.
Art Sale For Ukraine is our aim to support and save lives and the memory of our Ukrainian friends.
Remember Crimea is Ukraine.
Let’s keep supporting Ukraine!
Slava Ukraini!
