Dwygyfylchi ✨️

We were asked to freshen up this kitchen and the customer wanted a drench, bar the ceiling. They wanted to keep that white.

They chose the colour 'Silver Sage' by Crown and had it mixed into Crown Clean Extreme, Mould Inhibiting emulsion.

There was very little prep, only some caulking to do as the customer wanted to put their items back up after the decorating was completed.

The ceiling was painted white and the rest of the walls and woodwork, including coving, was drenched.

The customer is very happy with the outcome ✨️

"It’s only a little kitchen"…

The true reality...

Every time I get an enquiry for a kitchen, I quite often hear:

“It’s only a little kitchen, it shouldn’t take you more than a day or so.”

And yes… it might be a little kitchen 💪🏻

But, what people don’t always see is the amount of time and preparation that goes into getting it ready before we even start painting ✨️

This photo is from this morning’s job, and it has taken me around an hour just to sheet everything up and prepare the kitchen.

That includes:
✔️ Sheeting all the units and worktops.
✔️ Protecting the floors.
✔️ Masking and taping everything properly.
✔️ Protecting sockets.
✔️ Protecting appliances.
✔️ Masking around all the different areas and angles.
✔️ Making sure everything is properly sealed and protected before sanding begins.

And then there’s the prep, sanding, filling, priming, painting and finishing to actually do.

A kitchen may have less wall space than a standard room, but it can actually be far more time-consuming because you've got cupboards, worktops, appliances, sockets, corners, awkward angles and loads more cutting in.

In fact, there can be more time spent preparing and cutting in a small kitchen than there is painting an average-sized room.

This is also why, when I'm working on a kitchen, the kitchen is generally unusable until the job is completed.

Just imagine if I had to spend anything from 1 to 2 hours every morning sheeting everything up, then another 1 to 2 hours at the end of every day un-sheeting and cleaning everything down, only to do it all again the following morning.

That's not productive time.

So when you're getting estimates for decorating work, don't just look at the size of the room and think “it's only small.”
There's a lot more involved than simply putting paint on the walls 😊

The preparation is a huge part of the job — and it's what makes the finished result look good. 👌🏼

This photo show just how much preparation goes into what might look like “just a little kitchen.” ✨️

Abergele ✨️

Our customer wanted her entrance hall freshening up.

There was some peeling paint on the ceiling, walls and skirting boards.

The areas were sanded before being stabilised, skimmed and sanded again for a second time.

I used Albany Scrubbable Matt on the ceiling and walls in the customers choice of colour. It was a partial drench. The woodwork was painted using Albany White Gloss and as the skirting boards are tiles, I used Albany ABX in Burgengy.

The previous paint was peeling off the skirtings because the customer had previously used paint meant for wood and metal. Its super important to use the correct paint for the material you are painting.

The customer is very happy with the outcome ✨️

How to deal with peeling paint, like a pro ✨️

1, Scrape all of the loose paint away until the paint is tight to the wall.

2, Sand the area, focusing on the paint line.

3, Hoover all of the dust and debris away.

4, Use a damp cloth to clean any remaining dust off the wall.

5, A coat of Zinsser Peel Stop over the area. When dry, add another coat.

6, Use a fine filler like Gyproc to skim over the area.

7, Once the filler is dry, sand smooth...and you're good to go 💪🏻

Penmaenmawr ✨️

We were called to help our customer who was having a new bay window.

As you can see, they were pre-primed.

They recieved 3 coats of the cream colour and 3 coats of the brown colour. The colour scheme had to keep in line with the previous window colour so it was to match all other windows.

The customer is thrilled with the freshness of her new windows. We will see you again in the future ✨️
