~ The Spirit of India~
Collage on book cover for the Collage&Culture - the first open call that celebrates the culture of India.
While reflecting on "Bindi" symbol today, I had a chance to read about other symbols of Indian culture. One of them is svastika - symbol that today is often misunderstood and connected to N**i atrocities.
I read that in spiritual traditions of India, the sw****ka is regarded as a sacred symbol of cosmic order, divine blessing and the eternal rhythm of existence. In Sanskrit, word svastika, means "that which brings well-being," and it represents harmony between the individual, nature and the whole universe.
As someone born in Poland, learning about the origin of this symbol, made me understand the very different meaning long before the N**i era. I now see the sw****ka not only through the lens of war, but also as an ancient symbol of hope, blessing and the human search for connection with the Divine.
Thank you Ranjini for hosting this creative opportunity for everyone to learn about different cultures with the medium of collage. It's very inspiring ♡
