I’m winding down a little on here as I’m taking a little time off soon to have a procedure which hopefully will help improve my health.

I’ll be honest, I’m absolutely terrified and never quite sure how much is appropriate to share on here. Authenticity is extremely important to me but there’s also such a thing as too much information.

I’m ever so grateful to the superstars that are Sal Sanderson and Tracey Halligan for volunteering to keep art club running during my recuperation time, (4-6 weeks). Bless your hearts ladies, you are so appreciated. Big thanks to Rachel Patience for helping too and maybe running the hoover over the floor every now and again. (It’s ok, I can be cheeky to Rachel, she’s family).

I’m preparing myself at the moment, catching up with jobs in the house. An absolutely enormous thank to Ash for the enormous leg up today, you sir, are a legend.

I’m also avoiding thinking about anything by distracting myself with intriguing side quests. I’ve developed a very keen interest in mechanical pencils lately and have done a copious amount of research. So far I have resisted purchasing any, but they’re so beautiful 🤩

I didn’t quite realise this was going to be an appreciation post when I started writing it. I was going to tell you I now have mini giclee prints of my open editions in ATC size and I ended up sharing my gratitude about the lovely people I have in my life. And I haven’t even mentioned my lovely mum yet. I think she needs her own post.

How are you guys doing? Anyone got any tips for keeping the nerves at bay? Not vodka. 🤣

If you’re in need of a little relaxing ‘me time’ I can highly recommend the watercolour workshop at Linda Karslake Paint Studio in Selby.

We had a lovely time today. Tranquil background music, copious amounts of tea, fresh fruit and flapjack, friendly vibes, gentle tuition and beautiful paints and paintbrushes.

I was so completely out of my comfort zone given that I usually use pastels which are very very dry. It was lovely to feel the paint flowing. I’m not used to having to wait for drying time in between layers but it encouraged us to slow down, just take a moment and breathe.

It was fab that I knew nearly everyone there and met a lovely new lady too. Art tends to build up beautiful communities of the loveliest folk. Such a nice morning. Thank you Linda 💖

Here’s a little witchy lino print I’ve popped on Artminta, a new selling platform especially for tiny art.

It’s an auction set up. I couldn’t get the buy it now button to work for some reason but I won’t be beaten. I’ll figure it out eventually.

Please take a look if she speaks to you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🙏

Our expo yesterday was filled with the loveliest humans imaginable all looking around the artwork we had to share. It was brilliant. I am so pooped now from all the chin wagging. 🤣

Seriously though, it really does mean a lot to all of us in the Selby Art Collective when you take the time out of your day to come and see what we have been creating. Thank you so much for coming.

It’s a bit of a cliche that artists put their heart and soul into our work but it’s a cliche because it is so true. The time, love, attention and effort we put into our art is really significant and hopefully it shows. We hope you enjoyed the whole experience.

As usual I forgot to take photos on the day, mainly because I was too busy being in the moment, so here’s a couple of photos of some of my arty stock, no Facebook post is complete without a visual.

A big shout out to all the people who helped behind the scenes, especially the hairy husband Chris Patience.m who carted stuff about like a trooper. 💖

We will be having an exhibition in The Abbey in October where we will have some new art to share with you. More info on that nearer the time.

Thanks so much to Ashley Nom Nom Kelsey who very kindly helped me find the studio this morning under all the boxes that were just dumped last night in an exhausted stupor. What a legend. 💖

I think doing an event like this makes me realise just how much support I have around me. I am so grateful. My family bringing me tea and shortbread, art club members popping by to say hi, friends, family being there. I even saw a lady I used to work with when I was about 17 after years and years of not being in touch and it was lovely. It really warms my heart. Here’s to many more of these beautiful connective experiences.

An enormous heartfelt thanks to everyone who came to the expo. You’re all absolutely fantastic.

Going to go and collapse in a contented heap. I’ll be back once my mojo returns.

Big love,
