Exciting opportunity! Selby Art Collective is looking for a new artist!
We’re looking for a new member to join our established group of dedicated painters, and we’re excited to see who might be out there!
Selby Art Collective is a small, friendly and hardworking group of artists who regularly come together to exhibit and promote original paintings in and around Selby.
Our mission is to put Selby firmly back on the art map! We’re passionate about raising the profile of art in our town, bringing artists and art lovers together and creating exhibitions that people genuinely look forward to visiting.
We’re looking for an established painter with a distinctive artistic identity, a strong portfolio of original paintings and a real commitment to their work.
Our current members work across abstract painting, landscapes, portraiture, figurative art, wildlife and nature-inspired subjects, using oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels.
We’re particularly keen to welcome an artist whose work brings a fresh perspective, a different subject matter or a distinctive painting style that will complement the diversity of our existing collective.
We’d be especially interested in seeing contemporary still life, architectural painting, surrealism, imaginative or narrative-led painting, geometric work or other distinctive approaches that would add something new to our exhibitions.
Previous exhibition experience isn’t necessary. We’re far more interested in the quality and individuality of your paintings, your enthusiasm and what you could bring to the group.
But there’s more to being part of our collective than producing great paintings!
We’re looking for someone who:
🎨 Is an active, dedicated painter with a consistent body of original work.
🎨 Has their own recognisable style and takes pride in presenting their paintings professionally.
🎨 Is a fantastic team player, supportive, enthusiastic and willing to contribute ideas.
🎨 Can commit to participating in a minimum of two exhibitions each year, along with occasional group meetings.
🎨 Is happy to play an active part in planning, organising, promoting and running our exhibitions.
🎨 Can make their own transport arrangements for exhibitions, including transporting their paintings and display materials.
🎨 Is based within reasonable travelling distance of Selby.
Most importantly, we’re looking for the right person to become part of our team.
We’re a close-knit collective where everyone has a voice, everyone contributes and we all work together to make our exhibitions a success.
We take our art seriously, but we also enjoy what we do, and finding someone who shares that enthusiasm and commitment is incredibly important to us.
