I like to nest my seams as I sew rather than pin them. A little press with your finger will show whether it’s laying nice and flat and locked together.
Always check on the bottom fabric as to which way it should go, and adjust any that are going the wrong way as long as they are free to move and not locked in place by another seam

This is a great pattern for using a whole 10” layer cake - Boxed-In.
I mocked up a digital version for placement and then followed it for cutting out, piecing the blocks and setting out the layout.
I’ve had this layer cake from by called Persimmon for a while, waiting for inspiration, and it hasn’t disappointed.
A generous throw size at 51-1/2” x 60”

Boxed-In quilt pattern.

This version uses the Winter’s Garden fabric range from Lewis & Irene. A range of 15 fabrics, appearing twice each, making a 5 x 6 grid of blocks. Made from 10” fabric squares.
