Glaze day for this unique hollow build tree branch frame.

It’s a picture frame, but it looks like it’s sprouting branches. All built in a hand building method using slabs.

Today I’m using oxide washes and stains for depth, underglaze crayons for detail, and a bit of gold glaze for the posh bits.

Still needs firing, then I’ll be painting the little robin that lives in the branches. He’s next.

New design out of the bisque.

Tropical flower phone amp 🌺 New template-built, bisque fired.

My template method’s the reason these complex shapes come through bisque without warping or cracking. It works.

Still get a bit of a flutter opening the kiln with a new design though, I’ll admit 🙈 even with years of experience.

Tap test … lovely tink. She’s solid.

Glaze fire next, then I’ll be releasing the template so you can make one yourself.

Picture frame update! The technique I used worked perfectly! No cracks and the piece has a nice bell sound when you tap it, indicating no hidden cracks, so it’s worked 💯 as picture frames can be tricky would you like to see how this technique works? Then you can try it for yourself. Let me know in the comments.

From Clay to masterpiece ✨... but watch to the end. Surprises await.

I’ve been sharing this ceramic picture frame journey from a wet slab of clay to the final glaze fire.

The video shows clips of every stage — including the bisque possibility of warping that nearly broke me 😅

My prayers pulled through though. The glaze turned out even better than I hoped.

BUT… I couldn’t resist having a little fun. Stick around for the last 3 seconds of the video 👀
