Did you know you can use CDs 💿 to create Drypoint prints?! Since getting a slightly better machine to print my prints on I’ve been experimenting! We have stacks of unused CDs so I’m trying to think of designs that would work. I may cut some up and lean towards some more abstract designs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This was just a tester so I went with flowers to try out some different marks. It came out way better than I expected.

I had been hoping to share more videos of my experiments but I’ve either been busy or ill 😩

I have a feeling it’s my body’s way of forcing me to slow down so I’m listening to it and taking things slowly for now before the rush starts up again in a few weeks 😬

Hope you’re all well ✨😘

Look after yourselfs and rest when you need to! (Telling myself this as much as you 😅😆)

Hullo!!
I’m back after a little break! Back with my acid etchings that I did for my final exhibition for the end of my first year of uni.
These are acid etchings inspired by the buildings in Swindon that have been left to rot and decay, with the last one being what the future holds - plain boring square buildings!

I’m still waiting for a better press to arrive so I can print these at home, but I will have them on display & to buy at where I’ll be showcasing my work with my class mates on the 19th and 20th September at in the sculpture building at the North Star campus.

I hope you’re all well and coping in this heat?! I’ve well and truly had enough 😆

✨ My final exhibition to end the first 1st at uni ✨

I’m beyond happy with how these came out 😍🤗
To get to this point there was a lot of trial of error, a lot of drawing practice, believe it or not I didn’t think I could draw 😂🫣

Even when I’m doing Pyrography any sketches i do are so rough and don’t look like the final piece at all 😆 this past year though I’ve really been trying to up my drawing game. I’m getting there, and I’ve really come to love drawing buildings.

Acid etching is probably my favourite printing technique and I will definitely be doing more in the future. Im experimenting with Dry point etching at the moment - mostly because I can’t have a set up for acid etching at home 😭😭 this makes me sad 😩

I’m working on getting editions of these printed ready for

Do you have a favourite from these prints? I’ll explain my thinking behind them in the next videos. Also, I wrote a little poem to go with them… never have I done that before! 🙃 I’ll add a pic of it in the comments…

Have a fab day 🥰

Hullo!! Here is my last print from my ‘Why?’ Collection.. this one is called ‘beyond?’

I wanted to catch the juxtaposition between beautiful old stones and the plain boring square buildings that are being built today.

Another acid etched plate, I added chine collè on a couple of them too. Do you have a favourite?

I’ll share the whole collection of these prints soon, and I’ll have prints available to purchase at Swindon Open Studios we’re taking part as a class and will be sharing out work on the 19th and 20th at North Star campus.

Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far

Happy Monday morning!
Another successful print! I had to go back to my original feather etching to see if I could get a successful print and I did! 🙌
So this has been fun, 😆 I’ll hopefully do more videos soon 🤗

Have a wonderful week!

Ohhh here we go again!
I was over wiping the Tetra Pak before, which wouldn’t be so much of an issue if I was using the press at uni - as I’ve said before that has way more pressure. But finally I got a good print!! Now to do more to get used to it!

A lovely fellow print maker reached out on my video from yesterday and we had a good old chat and she’s recommended I try a different approach, so I’m hopefully going to get myself a sizzix machine…
Because although I finally got the Tetra Pak figured out, I tried to print one of my etched zinc plates and it was a fail 😩 love that people share their hints and processes/equipment 🥰 thank you again

But for now I know I can at least print Tetra Pak on my cold press laminator 🙌 glad I didn’t give up, the videos I’ve shared are only a small selection of my trial and errors 🤪🫠

So this is your sign to not give up!! Keep going and it will work out, or someone will come along with a huge bit of advice!!

Happy Friday people, enjoy your weekend 🎉

Good morning!
Here we are with another print! And another fail 😩🫣
I etched a different design to see if that worked better…. It did not. You can hear my frustration on the original audio 😣
Anyhoo… we go again! I do think I know what I’ve been doing wrong though so watch this space for some better prints!! 🤞

Have a lovely day…. Where has this week gone? 😆

Good morning!
I’m back with another print from my ‘Why?’ Collection there was a fair bit of experimentation with this one too, the first one is the one I choose for my exhibition at uni. The Chine Collè worked absolutely perfectly on it!!
This is another iconic building in Swindon that has sadly been left to rot.
My inspiration for this print came from a photo I took at a few years ago at Swindon art fringe.

You can see form the etching plate I had to write the words backwards that was tricky! 😆 I think this might be favourite print from the collection.
I’ll share the whole collection together soon, and I’ll have prints available to buy very soon 🙌

Have a fab day

😩😩 I will get this to work!! The cloth made the paper wrinkle… so I think the pressure was too much. Aaaand the paper was too wet, I knew it was too wet before I even put it in the press 🫣🙄
Back to the drawing board 😩🤪
