Woodenful is 6, and this birthday feels a little different.
Running a small business has so many ups and downs. There’s the excitement of a new idea, the lovely messages from customers and the pride of knowing something I’ve made has a place in someone’s home. Over the last six years, there’s been so much to be proud of.
But lately, things have gone really quiet. And if I’m honest, somewhere between trying to keep the business going, being a mum and working in a really busy job, I’ve lost some of the joy I used to feel when creating.
I’ve been considering closing Woodenful, which is a really tough thing to even write. I’ve put so much of myself into it, and it’s meant much more to me than simply selling things.
I haven’t made a decision yet. I’m giving myself a little space to think about what would work for me and my family. Perhaps that means fewer products, a different focus or exploring new ideas that bring together my love of science and creativity.
There may still be another chapter for Woodenful. It might just look a little different.
Thank you to everyone who has ordered, shared a post, left a review or cheered me on over these six years. Whatever comes next, I’m so grateful you’ve been part of it.
