Sally's Vintage Painted Furniture

Sally's Vintage Painted Furniture I love to give old and shabby furniture a new lease of life using paint. After a clean, most surfaces can be transformed with two or three coats of paint.

I prefer to use paints by Annie Sloan which are available on line or locally at Me Me Me in Leighton Buzzard but other chalk paints are available. Some of my work has been done in the old fashioned way of rubbing down, priming, undercoating and top coating several times. I am completely self taught (well okay, you tube & books have helped)

The benefit of chalk paint is that hardly any preparation

is needed. Less if you want a distressed dark waxed finish. One pot of Annie Sloan paint costs on average £19. My Country Grey paint tin is still half full & I have painted a mirror, a dresser (outside only) a small table and a footstool. Once painted, a soft wax is applied (about £8 a tin). It is recommended that you let the item 'cure' for two weeks after it's paint treatment before use. This ensures a hard wearing finish.
