My totem tree of life is continuing to grow, this is a maquette for a much larger voile installation featuring 4 or 5 spirits.

Memories of Lagos continue to influence my work - the way the neighbouring women would gather to comb and braid each other's hair. The quiet moments with a little friend who during school stories would sit behind me and stroke my long blonde hair. Those experiences made me feel different, and that sense of not belonging has stayed with me. But through my work, I've found a way to process those feelings and create a sense of belonging. This series is a celebration of my heritage and the spirits that have shaped me, beginning with the beauty of carved Afro combs.

Progress in the studio! Squashed some lingering projects, but those curtains are a different story. Working on it! I've always struggled with finishing things - it's like hitting a brick wall! Been so busy with commission work I’ve not done much creatively lately so today I drew a line under that I decided I need to show up for myself. Happy with what came out… 🌚🌚 Happy Friday!
