A big day: I have chickens again! I can’t tell you how happy I am. Three little pekins, names tbc. I had to rehome my 50 strong flock when I moved last year, saying goodbye to my little woodland area and hello to a very small garden. It was one of the biggest trade offs for having my own lovely home by the sea. But I’ve missed having them so much, so today I welcomed three pekin bantams to a little eglu set up. Of all the breeds I’ve had over the years, pekins have always been the most pet like and least destructive. I hope they will be happy in their little home. On an art level, I’ve really struggled to work with eggshells as I’ve felt so disconnected from the process since losing my flock. Although I will have to supplement my supplies with eggshells from local smallholdings and garden hens, I think this will help spark my joy in eggshell art again. I’m thinking sea/coast themed names… any ideas?! 🥰🥰🥰
