An overdue interiors round-up, gathering the colours, patterns and beautifully considered spaces that have been inspiring us so far this month and that we simply couldn’t keep to ourselves.

1. Starting bold and glorious, the truly wonderful hallway belonging to Emma Burns, recently featured in the pages of this month’s House & Garden Magazine. A delicious mix of colour, pattern and original vintage paintings, all layered together with an effortless confidence. A rather fabulous home, photographed by Tom Griffiths.

2. A lesson in the art of decoration. The wonderfully calming sitting room of Amy Balfour, where muted blushes, warm olive tones and vintage prints create a space that feels both deeply restful and wonderfully lived-in. Proof, perhaps, that understated needn’t mean lacking in character.

3. A charming French country bench by TWIST & HARDY, dating to circa 1880. With wonderfully generous proportions and that irresistible warm, mellow patina that only comes with age. A rather perfect way to introduce a little French history and a splash of vintage at home.

4. The kitchen of a grand English country estate, reworked by Rebecca Wakefield from a formal layout into a space shaped around family life. Natural light, French touches and muted greens make for a kitchen that feels wonderfully relaxed despite its grand surroundings. Photographed by Helen Cathcart.

5. A room to dream over, quite literally. Restored from near ruin, this Henry VIII-era longhouse in Suffolk is now a study in calm, colour and character. In the principal bedroom, centuries of history sit alongside a collection of modern British art, creating the sort of wonderfully layered interior that feels as though it has evolved rather than been decorated. A few rooms we’ll be thinking about for the rest of the month and, inevitably, quietly plotting how to bring a little of them home with us.
