Hi everyone,
I hope you are all doing well. It’s been a while since I posted on here, so I wanted to give you an update…
Many of you are aware that I have struggled with endometriosis and adenomyosis all of my adult life, resulting in me having a total hysterectomy a few years ago. It’s definitely not been an easy road and a surgical menopause brings new physical and mental challenges.
A few weeks ago I was also diagnosed with ADHD, which has helped me understand so many things about myself and my life - why I have pushed myself so hard, why I can have lots of ideas and creativity but sometimes feel unable to act on them, why I struggle with basic tasks, and why I have experienced so many periods of anxiety, overwhelm and exhaustion.
I have always been a perfectionist and someone who gives 100%. I spent 20 years in the charity sector and fundraising, working on projects and events that required huge amounts of energy and commitment. I absolutely loved it, but now understand why I was often running on empty.
I have been learning more about ADHD, to gain a better understanding of what I am dealing with, so I can find ways to move forward which won’t leave me in constant burnout. I am also supporting my daughter who is currently going through her own assessment process, and I want to ensure that she gets all the support she needs before she starts high school.
I still have the ideas, creativity, passion, and drive to continue, I am just taking the time I need to rebuild my confidence, increase my energy and find a healthier balance moving forward.
Thanks so much for your support and watch this space…
Kathy xx
