Hoping that we can make London and the UK a safer place. Any parent who knows their child has any knife at home should hand them in now! Dont let your child be the next one killed or turn into a killer on our streets.
| Tomorrow sees the launch of a national knife surrender, ahead of a ban on ninja swords on 1 August.
The law follows years of campaigning by the family of Ronan Kanda who was killed in Wolverhampton on 29 June 2022, in a case of mistaken identity, by two teenagers in possession of a ninja sword. The government announced earlier this year that the new legislation would be named in his memory.
Before the law is enforced, a national Surrender and Compensation Scheme will run to allow people to hand over their weapons without prosecution. The surrender scheme ahead of Ronan’s Law will run from 1 July to Thursday 31 July 2025.
As part of the launch of the national surrender scheme, the Home Office has partnered with Fazamnesty - a member of the Knife Crime Coalition and an activist. Faz Amnesty will be in Wolverhampton and Bloxwich on 1 July, followed by Handsworth and Coventry on 2 July in a specially kit-equipped, secure van. His aim is to encourage young people to safely hand over dangerous and illegal weapons, as an alternative to asking people to surrender to a police station.
Two new knife surrender bins have also bin installed in Wolverhampton and Coventry, in conjunction with the charity Word 4 Weapons.

Ronan’s Law outlaws the manufacture, supply, sale, possession and importation of ninja swords, from 1 August 2025.
Our dedicated Project Guardian taskforce, which works to reduce knife crime across the West Midlands, are also working with specific retailers around bulk surrender and compensation during this month. The surrender and compensation claim form and full guidance is available on the https://orlo.uk/sgkIs website: https://orlo.uk/5A25q
As part of our ongoing work to reduce knife crime across the West Midlands, we have a range of resources on our dedicated website: https://orlo.uk/vapAp
The website features the story of Ronan, whose tragic murder has been the catalyst for this change in legislation. His sister, Nikita, and mum, Pooja, work with us to bring Ronan’s story into schools and colleges across the West Midlands to try and encourage young people to stop and think before carrying a knife.
