End of term joy filled days at Creative Hearth, including a teddy bears picnic! This is the Earth Education Tuesdays full home ed day. I haven't posted photos but they also have dance and drama with the wonderful Emma Cole where the children are creating a play and their main lesson with fantastic Safa Bowskill who has been teaching them all about lunar festivals the most recent of course being the holy month of Ramadan 🌙 we have 2 spaces coming up starting in the summer term for 8 - 10 year olds!

The children explored the wonderful world of Hilma af Klint today and had a go at creating artwork inspired by her in Kristens fantastic art class 🎨

Magic water painting with Kristen last Friday. The children first painted with just water and then introduced water colour paint that magically filled the water shapes!

We've been having a jolly crafty time making sweet little cat bags, a fox bag and some mini wooly jumpers from an amazing vintage thick felted wool blanket, learning simple embroidery stitches and how fun and simple it is to work with felt!

Oil painting continues in the Friday tween/teen class led by paintings from collage, so much creative fun! ✨️

✨️Poppy's recent outdoor sessions and main lessons are all about the many gifts of mighty Oak! Yesterday the children cracked open dried acorns and ground them into flour which will be prepared and made made into delicious and nutritious delights ✨️

Already half way through our first half term! It's been a beautiful Autumnal start 🍂 Lateefa and Poppy have been holding the Tuesday home ed day, the kids have started making their mini latch hook rugs and listening to the adventures of Pippi Longstockings in our morning circle time, and have been immersed in the delights and mysteries of Autumn with Poppy's first forest school and main lesson block. Kristens art classes are thriving and full of creativity and inspiration, stories of artists lives and fun projects, more photos soon!

Today was the 3rd and final week of our local geology block, we finished off by painting the layers of different rock in our local area, and the north and south downs, with egg tempera mixed with local sandstone and clay, all ground up and mixed by the children. It's so rooting to know and appreciate a bit more about the layers of earth under our feet!
