A little bit of exciting news from The Ugly Duckling!

We’ve recently been announced as an Official 2026 Contender in the Kitchen Renovation of the Year category at the Golden Finish Awards 🏆

As a small family run business, we’re incredibly proud to be recognised alongside so many talented painters from across the UK 🎨

The awards are in their very first year and are dedicated to celebrating skill and craftsmanship within the painting and decorating industry, so we’re delighted to be part of it.

We may also have another category announcement still to come… but we’ll keep that one under wraps for now 🤫

Hi everyone 👋

It’s been a little quiet on this page recently, but only because we’ve been incredibly busy hand-painting kitchens and cabinetry over on our main business.

Behind the scenes, we’ve also been researching products, developing our systems and working on some exciting plans for the future of Spray Granite.

Spray Granite is still very much something we’re passionate about, and we’re really looking forward to sharing some upcoming projects with you all.

We’re now taking bookings from September onwards for worktops, tiles and flooring.

From a dark, heavy finish to something much lighter and fresher.

Worktops and flooring finished in Spray Granite – Zinc.

Previously black, the surfaces have been completely transformed into a softer grey tone, layered with flecks of grey, white and black to create a clean, modern look that works seamlessly across both areas.

Everything was carefully prepared and built up in layers, with real granite flecks worked through to achieve a smooth, even, stone-like finish that’s made to last.

No removal. No replacement. Just complete transformation.

Kitchen transformation using our Spray Granite system, finished in Mulberry.

A rich pink backdrop, layered with a blend of coral, soft white and mauve flecks, finished with subtle touches of black to add depth.

A beautiful worktop transformation from start to finish 🤍

Taken from black to a crisp white backdrop, finished with a blend of pearl white, grey and black granite flecks, this kitchen has been completely refreshed using our Spray Granite system.

Applied directly over the existing surface, without the disruption of ripping anything out, it’s lifted the space and completely changed the feel of the kitchen.

Each surface has been carefully prepared and built up in layers to create a smooth, stone-like finish that works beautifully with the cabinetry.

Applied to the floor-to-ceiling tiles throughout the room, completely changing the feel of the space and bringing a much lighter and fresher look.

Finished in Frost, set on a clean white base with a mix of grey, soft mauve, white and subtle hints of baby blue. The combination creates a soft, stone-like finish that keeps the space feeling bright and open.

Such a big change in this kitchen, all achieved using what was already there.

We used our Spray Granite system in Frost, a soft white base with a subtle mix of granite specks running through it. You’ll see cool greys, soft mauve tones and the slightest hint of blue, which lift the overall look and give it that natural, stone like feel.

It’s a really well balanced finish that sits nicely within the space without overpowering it.

Everything is carefully prepared and built up in layers before the real granite flecks are applied and sealed, creating a smooth, durable surface made to last.
