My handcrafted jewellery has an East Asian theme. The techniques of mitsuro hikime, (casting of silver using malluable wax), Keum boo, the fusing of gold foil and kumihimo silk braid.

Every stage has its challenges but the results are so worth it!

Exciting times, I finally got around to sending 22 pieces off for hallmarking with Birmingham Assay Office ⚓️ . My initials, metal fineness after being tested (925 silver in this case) and the Birmingham Assay Office anchor ⚓. It's not easy trying to get a good macro shot of a 3.5mm hallmark!

Anything weighing over 7.78g (silver) legally has to be checked and hallmarked (UK) but I had other under the weight pieces done as well (works out a lot more cost effective per item).

Some of the new mitsuro hikime pieces back from casting, will need to grind the sprues off and finish. Any weighing over 7g will get sent off to the assay office for hallmarking ✨
