Decades ago this stump was pulled from the Snake River, finished, then sold to my aunt in a design store in Los Angeles. Preserved for years in a crate it’s now back home in Idaho. Now I just need a real rhino bust to show up in a crate.

Hot tip-Don’t travel with cowboy boots. However, I have heard that if you love something set it free and if it was truly yours it will return to you. For example, if you loved them enough to move them to West Africa, that’s pretty serious. If you chose them over all others to pock mark ancient Athenian cobblestones, next level. If you hand carried them to the isle of in 90 degree weather your true friends should start to ask questions. In a mere moment of youthful distraction your paths separate. You on a moped, your beloved boots floating away in a hydroplane on the Mediterranean Sea. Hours pass before you realize your infidelity. At this point your only path to reconciliation is through a disgruntled transport operator and a post it note. You try to move on, but those European shoes are too soft, they are unblemished and don’t smell of dirt and hard work. 6 months pass. The sun doesn’t shine quite the same. One dreary day in you arrive home from work to a mysterious red and yellow package glowing on your doorstep. Note nor invoice did ever you see. But one thing is true, those boots are truly meant to be yours. 🇬🇷

One time, I flew one way to because with my peeps was calling. I bought the ticket the day before which put me in the last row of economy next to the bathrooms, but with easy access to help hand out sick bags. I also ended up seat mates with a lady dressed in toucan scrubs who was non plussed with her seat assignment and the lack of overhead cargo space left at the back of the plane. She also belched unabashedly throughout the flight and giggled randomly to herself for no apparent reason. 1hr of flight watching Chris Voss explain the art of negotiation was helpful, however, the cards felt stacked in this case. I did negotiate the van though.

Almost all of our attempts to plan this trip have been changed or thwarted. Therefore, finally putting our TEAM E plates on the van after 2 weeks at Erber Auto (well done gents!) felt like a huge win. For a split second I thought we should change her name to HAIL MARY, but that was a bit too foreboding. Now off to hear Dr. Ben & Candy Carson speak at the Mountain States Policy Center dinner!

In north Idaho there is a bike trail that connects a string of one tavern logging towns. Nethaniel and I decided a fun double **k date would be to bike mucho miles, down a cold brewski and bike mucho miles home. He wasn’t wrong. We sidled our cute young bodies up to the bar. Once settled in we noticed an increasingly loud panting noise. We were the only ones in the bar at 3pm. We are confused until the buck mount on the wall swerves down towards my gal pal and says in a deep rusky voice, “smells like a doe in heat!” We lost it when the 250 # bartender with the low slung black man pony pops up from behind the bar with a microphone to his mouth. Needless to say Press & Pony was way classier than that but did lack a certain animatronic flair.
