Sarakele Studio Exploring the potential of sustainable materials, crafts and conscious design in contemporary furniture and interiors.

Sara Kele Studio creates exciting, yet simple and timeless furnitures and interiors - always keeping sustainability in focus. Their experimental, forward-thinking approach goes beyond the visual, exploring new materials and production methods. Localism is a priority, whenever it’s possible they intertwine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art, innovative techniques. Sara Kele urges factories to focus on sustainability, and awareness on environmental- and societal effects of production.

The MOKO furniture, designed in collaboration with Anna Cserba in the framework of the worthproject, is finally finished. The project’s aim is to encourage people to slow down in a natural home environment. We employ the design methodology "less is more" by reducing upholstery and using coconut fibers to show the beauty of raw material, with a focus on circular economy. We also would like to thank ENKEV and fakamra for their help in the implementation of our concept.

What can be the connection between people and objects? From our senses to materials, there are many factors. These can be called bridges. And bridges are able to create a unity between two elements, something that we were keen to bring to the foreground in PONTUM furniture.

Exceptional build quality and exquisite wood materials were a must, as we wanted the BRUNO desk to remain multi-generational. Sustainability, cradle-to-cradle design approach were held up all throughout the design and production phases. Some parts of the collection were done using recycled wood. Aesthetic considerations were also a priority, as it is the perfect complement to the BRUNO trolley.

We don't even think about what's common in our dining room table, our bed frame or our kitchen shelves... But the answer is simple: the wood from which it was made. Of course, not everyone chooses it as the most dominant component of their home furniture, but I always vote for it as my favourite material. My latest project was created using it and I can't wait to show it to you.

As part of the BALKON furniture collection, I made this stool, which is very practical in small spaces. The emphasis in this case was on seasonality, as this little seat can be easily disassembled and reassembled without tools, so it's easy to put away for winter, especially if you have a tiny balcony and need every square metre of space.
