Rebecca Powell Textile Artist

Rebecca Powell Textile Artist Textile artist producing stunning wall art pieces, one of a kind wearables and home decor pieces celebrating Nature's Gifts. Based in Ireland.

Hand dyed and eco dyed silks, wool and linen. Mixed media textile art is one of my great loves. Silk is my preferred fabric to work with, you will see it used in a variety of my creations both 2 and 3 dimensional. Nature in all its rawness is my inspiration as I layer silks, wool and other textiles, adding embellishments to create on of a kind pieces of colourful wall art. Wet felting is my newest

love and I just have the most fun creating fabulous vessels and wearable pieces. I create hand painted and hand dyed silk scarves in long and square. I use a combination of techniques, some are based on traditional Japanese methods with my own twist. I use professional French steam fixed dyes which retain wonderful vibrant colours when fixed. I offer a bespoke service if customers would like a scarf created as a gift or to match an outfit for a special occasion. Photography plays a vital role too in my work and I do offer a selection of my images as photographic prints along with prints of my many pieces of soft pastel artwork. As I evolve as an artist and creative, there are other works emerging: mixed media pieces, oil painting and printing are a few I am dabbling in. Follow me around the web and you will see my work, you will also notice there are many crossovers as my work in interwoven across the use of materials. In collaboration with my daughter, we created Wildly Created as a marketplace for our unique hats and other wearable accessories. Under this umbrella, I create gorgeous silk and mixed media hats and fabric wrist cuff bracelets. This is an evolving business and it is well worth browsing our collections. linktr.ee/rebpowell for all the links.

We chose to be here on Earth to experience certain aspects of humanity, therefore we put up our hands to be here at this time, to remember, to listen, to come into community, to be the guardians of the woodlands and wild places.
Nature shows us so many beautiful ways of existence, ways of being, ways of showing up: symbiotic, caring, community, kindness and love... be they with legs, wings or fin, with stems, stalks or trunks, on land or in water. They take only what they require and will withstand hardship for the benefit of others, never complaining. Species work together, unseen. None are looking for glory and exultation.
Enormous journeys are taken with no borders each cycle of life.
A true connection to source guides unseen routes.
Who are we humans in the face of all that is around us, that we deem ourselves right and all powerful when we pale into nothingness against all that surrounds us.

Spent some time with my display at West Cork Collective this afternoon re imagining its look. Water, Earth and Fire are represented here in my curated collections. The land of Eriu is celebrated with the stone circles and landscapes. The woodlands with the bluebells and fungi.
Irish wool from Ériu is used in many of my wet felted vessels. Local sheeps wool too. Foraged seaweeds feature in my fabrics and handmade clothing on silks and linens.

If you go down to the woods today... you never know what you may find

I recently learnt you can roast dock seeds and grind into flour... smells nice! We'll see what the flavour is like. 🤔
Plantain seeds are a great addition to bread making and taste like mushrooms when fried in butter.
A few new season blackberries..yum 😋
Seaweeds for eco-printing.
Woodland treasures, bits of bark and wood for wool mushroom sculptures.
A renewed sense of place, grounding and inner peace.
Win win 🙏
