🐝 Another bee cut-out today!

Taking a colony of bees out of a wooden hut, and these girls were definitely not happy to see me! 😅

I’ve done so many cut-outs this year, but I’ve never come across bees as aggressive as these. They’re not Irish-native stock, and their temperament was on another level.

The plan now is to replace the queen with an Irish queen, which should hopefully settle the colony down and improve their temperament over time. 🇮🇪🐝

🐝 Another colony of bees saved and safely rehomed! 🐝

These bees had only been living in the roof for a few weeks, but with small children in the house, the family understandably became concerned.

One of the children was stung and had a serious allergic reaction. An ambulance was called, and thankfully the child received the help they needed. ❤️

I was able to safely remove the colony from the roof and rehome the bees keeping both the family and the bees safe. 🐝🏡

Did this cut-out yesterday, and the timing worked out perfectly with the solar eclipse happening too! 🐝☀️ Really happy to have the bees safely removed and relocated to a good new home. ❤️

What a great day! 🐝💛 Feeling wonderful, especially when I finish a job and know it’s been done properly.

Taking bees out of a roof always gives me mixed feelings. It feels great to safely remove and save the bees, but it’s hard to see how much damage can sometimes be done to a property.

The important thing is that the bees are safe, the problem is sorted, and everything is good now. Another job done right! 🐝🏠💪

As you can see, I assemble the cut comb section frames and fit them into my super frames before placing them in the hive. From there, the bees do what they do best—building beautiful natural honeycomb and filling each section with pure, delicious honey.

I never throw anything away that comes from my bees—everything can be reused. 🐝💛

Another bee colony safely relocated today! 🐝

This one definitely got the heart racing first time building and using roof scaffolding 😬—it was so high up! Thankfully, another successful relocation.

No rest for me though! Next up is harvesting the summer honey, getting the hives ready for the heather, and preparing for a busy few days at the Clonmany Agricultural Show from 4th–6th August.

It's a busy time of year, but I wouldn't have it any other way. 🐝🍯 Hope to see some of you at the show!

Sometimes you think a job is going to be easy... and then it turns out to be anything but!

I thought I'd be able to remove these bees from the roof without having to cut into the ceiling from inside, but the hive was more than 2 metres in. It definitely wasn't the straightforward job I expected.

After a few hours of hard work, I finally got them out safely. The best part is that the bees were saved and will soon be rehomed, where they can continue doing what they do best. 🐝💛

Jobs like this can be challenging, but saving the bees makes it all worthwhile.

Another successful bee swarm rescue! 🐝

This swarm had landed underneath a wooden shed, which made the job a bit more challenging. The key to every swarm collection is finding the queen. Once she's safely in the box, the rest of the bees will usually follow, making the job much easier.

If you can't find the queen—or if she's accidentally injured or killed—it becomes a completely different story. The bees won't move into the box, and they end up scattered everywhere, making the rescue much more difficult.🍯🍯👇👇
